Chapter 10

Your POV

I'm either hallucinating or Hayes just said what I thought he said. It's most likely the second one but hey, ya never know.
"Hey we gotta get goin if we ever want to get to the mall today." Hayes said.
"Alright, let me grab a few things and I'll be ready."
Nash suddenly had the idea to say, "What would you be getting, if I were going to the mall I would just hop in the car and go."
I just kinda stared at him for a few seconds with a 'seriously? are you forgetting something?' look.
"Um for starters my shoes-"
"Oh yeah you wouldn't wanna go out in Cali again with no shoes like you did last time!" Really Nash? You had to bring that up?
"Wait what?" Hayes has such a confused and interested look on his face it's hard to tell which emotion was which.
"ANYWAYS money would also be a nice thing to bring if we actually want to buy something there," at which Nash just shrugged his shoulders and said, "Eh." I shoved him, smiling, and went back to my room to get my shoes and money.

Nash's POV

I honestly hadn't been trying to bring up that story again but it just slipped out. She didn't seem mad though, I can't tell if she wanted it to be told and was acting like she didn't want it to be told or the other way around. Girls are confusing.
"Hey y/n's out of the room what happened last year where she went out with no shoes?" I can literally see the eagerness in his eyes to learn something about his crush, I really wanna laugh.
"Nah ask her to tell you, I don't need her wrath still with me when you both are away." Saying that as sarcastically as possible, maybe it would lead to him actually asking her and maybe they could just talk for once. "Just curious, what do you think of y/n?"
"What kind of question is that? I mean I like her and all she's really nice and funny." After that he ducked his head down, geez even her name makes him turn pink and he still hides it. Where is y/n anyways it's been almost five minutes?
Right on cue she walked down the stairs (shoes on and everything) and I immediately asked, "What took you so long?"
"Relax I couldn't find my wallet. Wait I was only gone like five minutes what are you talking about?"
Sensing another argument, Hayes told her he'd be waiting in the car. Once he was out the door, the questioning began.
"So, what do you think of Hayes?"
Her face flashed so many different emotions it was unreadable.
"What?? You were just criticizing me about spending five minutes looking for my lost wallet, Hayes goes outside and you hit me with that question? And what do you even mean, I've known him almost as long as I've known you just not as well! As of right now I think he's really sweet and funny, I don't know why you're asking me this." With that whole speech she just walked out the door, and there were only two thoughts in my head.
1. What is it gonna take to ever get them together?
2. That went well.

Hayes's POV

Out in the driveway, y/n comes walking out with the most confused look on her beautiful face.
"What's wrong?"
This took her a few tries to say it cause she kept turning to me, opening her mouth like she was gonna say something, then turning away. Eventually she said, "Your brother is a weirdo."
"Yeah, pretty much."
She started laughing, which always makes me smile; it's like her happiness is contagious and I love that about her. Wait what?

Your POV

Right after he smiled at me he looked like he got lost in a deep thought.
"Everything ok?" I asked.
Jolted out of whatever he was thinking about he smiled at me (which will make me feel better about anything anytime) and started fumbling with the keys, trying to get them in the lock. I noticed something weird, and in my sweetest voice possible, I told him, "Hayes hun, it might work better if you actually put the right key in the lock."
"Oh yeah, right." He blushed a little after I said that, and he seems so nervous, I can't imagine why though. Once we both got in the car I got an idea.
"Hey what if we stopped at Starbucks on the way there? I'm craving a Frappuccino right now. My treat?"

Hayes's POV

Oh my god I love her.
"What did you just say?" She said, a little surprised.
CRAP I SAID THAT OUT LOUD.
"I meant I love your idea! That sounds great! But I'll pay, I wouldn't feel right if I didn't."
Oh I hoped that cover worked. There's no possible way that she feels the same way about me as I feel about her. Is there?
"Ok thanks! What are you gonna get?"
"Umm, probably a Frappuccino like you're gonna get." Now that I notice, we've been sitting in the driveway in the car talking for five minutes.

And Nash has been listening to us the whole time through the window. Y/n doesn't notice, but when I look at him he gives me the thumbs up with a face that says, 'Way to go idiot.'
