"Come on you two." Mouse said, walking into the living room where Hollie was sat cross-legged, doing Amelia's hair.
"One sec." Hollie said, putting a bobble on the end of the plait. "Come on then, let's get your coat on." She said standing up whilst Mouse went to get Amelia's suitcase, Hollie's attorney had told them they needed an overnight bag just in case they didn't win which they had been told 1000 times by different people, wasn't going to happen.
"Do we have to go?" Amelia asked, Hollie wasn't sure that the young girl understood the seriousness of the situation as she had repeatedly asked different people, including Boden and Kelly, what was happening and had tried to get Hollie to not go multiple times that morning.
"Unfortunately, we do." Hollie said, slipping her arm into her coat.
----------
"You be a good girl okay." Hollie said, placing a kiss on Amelia's head as they dropped her off at the social worker's office, trying her hardest not to get emotional.
"Bye." Amelia said with a small smile.
"Bye kiddo." Mouse said, hugging her.
"I don't know what I'll do without her." Hollie said as they walked back to the car.
"It's a good job you don't have to find out." Mouse said, wrapping his arm around her shoulders and gently squeezing her.
"You don't know some of the things I've done in the past." Hollie said. "I will hate myself if that's the reason we lose her."
"I might not but Voight does, he was there through most of it and that's why your attorney was so adamant he spoke." Mouse said. "Voight'll show it as what it was, a teenager in a rough spot being manipulated by her mother."
"You're gonna learn some stuff about me today." Hollie said.
"And I promise it won't affect our relationship." Mouse said, opening the car door for her.
"I don't know what I did to deserve you." Hollie said, placing a kiss on his cheek.
----------
"Sargent Voight, what is your relationship to the Halstead's?" Pat's attorney asked.
"I'm Jay Halstead and Greg Gerwitz boss and I've known Hollie for many years." Hank Voight answered.
"Roughly how long have you known Jay Halstead?" He asked.
"Around 6 or 7 years, since he started in my unit." Voight said.
"And what do you think of Detective Halstead?" He asked, going down the line of questioning Voight had expected.
"He's good police and a good person." Voight answered.
"No further questions." He said, sitting down with a smug smirk obviously planning to use this later on.
"Sargent Voight, how long have you known Hollie Halstead for?" Hollies attorney asked.
"I've known Hollie for around 14 years." Voight said.
"Surely she would've only been 14 at the time? How did you meet her?" He asked.
"Hollie's mother Shelly was part of a case we were working, Hollie did everything she could to keep Shelly out of prison despite not having a normal relationship with her." Voight explained.
"Not a normal relationship?" He pressed.
"Shelly was a drug addict and an alcoholic who had fled from the scene of a crime and made her fourteen-year-old daughter cover for her." Voight said.
"Mr Halstead's attorney has added multiple arrest records for Miss Halstead into this case." He said, placing the papers in front of Voight. "I noticed you were the arresting officer on most of them, is there anything we should know about them?"
"They are all drug related or robbery. She could never hurt a fly, the robbery was to get food for herself and Shelly. She's never touched a drug, the drug possession charges were when her own mother had sent her to score for her." Voight said, reading the sheet.
"Thank you, Sargent." The judge said. "That's all I need to hear." Hollie froze and Mouse placed his hand on her knee reassuringly. "After reading what Miss Halstead and Amelia had to say as well as Doctor and Detective Halstead, I only had one reason that I was not 100% confident making a decision but Sargent Voight cleared it up." She continued. "And for that reason, I am granting full custody to Hollie Halstead." Hollie didn't move. Had she heard right? She glanced across at Mouse who was smiling.
"I told you." He whispered. Hollie smiled and embraced her fiance before standing up.
"Thank you Voight." Hollie said, having beelined for the Sargent.
"I've told you 1000 times Kiddo, it's Hank." He said, placing a hand on her shoulder and giving it a gentle squeeze.
"Cheif!" Hollie called, spying Boden out of the corner of her eye.
"Congratulations." Boden said.
"I know you've got to get back to shift but I just wanted to say thank you. I've only got this life because of you, you didn't have to tell me about Jay and Will." She said.
"Any decent person would've." Boden said.
"Do you need me at the firehouse this shift?" Hollie asked.
"Spend the day with your family." Boden ordered before his radio started speaking he nodded and left.
"Woo!" Jay said, hugging Hollie from behind.
"He's a bit happy isn't he?" Hollie asked Erin as Jay pulled away and she turned around.
"He was worried about saying the wrong thing if they asked him to speak." Erin explained.
"Join the club." Hollie said with a smile. "What are you guys doing with the rest of the day?"
"We both took a days holiday so nothing." Jay said.
"What about Will and Nat?" Hollie asked.
"They're the same I'm pretty sure, but I think Nat needs to pick Owen up." Erin said.
"All five of you can come over to ours if you want." Hollie offered.
"It's a plan." Will said, hugging Hollie from behind.
"Is this a Halstead gene I missed? The whole hugging from behind thing?" Hollie asked.
"I don't think you did." Mouse said, earning a questioning glare from Hollie. "What?! Ask Mia, she'll back me up!"
