The Lost Halstead Part 2

Arson

"Hollie." Boden said, opening the door to Josh's room slightly.

"Hey Cheif, is everything okay?" Hollie asked, stepping out of the room to talk to Boden.

"Everything's fine, I just wanted to check up on you and Amelia and see if there was any news regarding Pat." Boden said.

"Amelia's fine, she's made friends with the kid Severide saved in the fire. I spoke to Mouse about an hour ago and he said they weren't any closer to finding him." Hollie said, not being able to bring herself to say her fathers name. "Do we know if he had anything to do with the fire?"

"It looks like it was an electrical problem at the minute but I have told OFI the situation regarding your father and they said they would pay extra attention to any signs of arson." Boden explained.

"I don't think he did it." Hollie said, "He wanted Amelia to himself, to have another chance to raise a kid of his own, so I don't think he would've tried to kill her." Hollie paused, "Unless he's planning to kill himself?" She said, realisation washing across her features. "Erin," She said, slipping back into the hospital room. "Will Voight be at the precinct?" She asked.

"He should be." Erin said. 

"Be a good girl for Erin okay?" Hollie said to Amelia, placing a quick kiss on the girls forehead.

"Everything okay?" Boden asked, placing a hand on Hollie's arm as she rushed out of the hospital.

"Can you keep me in the loop with the OFI investigation?" Hollie asked.

"I'll let you know as soon as I hear anything." Boden promised.

"Hollie,  I heard about whats happened, hows Amelia?" Platt asked as Hollie walked into the district.

"She's doing scarily well, it doesn't seem to have afftected her." Hollie said. "Is Voight upstairs?"

"I'll buzz you up." Platt said, knowing that whatever Hollie needed to say was urgent.

"Hey." Ruzek said, spotting Hollie as she came up the stairs.

"Hey, is Voight around?" Hollie asked, scanning the room for the Sargent.

"I am." Voight said, opening his office door.

"Can I talk to you for a minute?" Hollie asked.

"Is everything okay? Is Amelia okay?" Voight asked.

"She's fine. I actually wanted to talk about Pat." Hollie said.

"You think you know where he is?" Voight asked.

"I've got an idea, it might be a long shot..." Hollie began.

"What are you thinking kid?" Voight asked, cutting her off.

"What are the chances of there being a huge fire in his apartment building on the day he kidnapps Amelia?" Hollie asked.

"Extremely unlikely." Voight said.

"Exactly. What if Pat set the fire to try and kill Amelia? I know it sounds ridiculous because the reason he kidnapped her was so he could have full custody and take her away from me but what if he was going to kill her and permenantly take her away from me?" Hollie said. 

"You think he's going to try and kill himself when he finds out Amelia's dead." Voight said, understanding what Hollie was trying to say. "It makes sense after the custody battle that he would want a permanent solution."

"OFI are looking into the cause of the fire and Boden's keeping me in the loop." Hollie said.

"I don't suppose Jay and Mouse have been keeping you in the loop?" Voight said.

"I spoke to Mouse maybe an hour and a half ago, why?" Hollie said, beginning to panic.

"No ones been able to reach them, they've both turned their phones off." Voight explained.

"Fuck... So you think they've gone dark?" Hollie said.

"I think its a definate possibility." Voight said.

"I'll try and reach out, see if I can find them." Hollie said, standing up.

"Okay, but Ruzek's coming with you just in case." Voight said.

"You know thats not nesecary Hank." Hollie said.

"I just want you to be safe." Voight said, opening his office door. "Ruzek, you're with Hollie." Voight said, stopping Hollie from arguing. She did however send him a glare as she laft his office before heading down the steps with Ruzek in tow.

"Where are we going?" Ruzek asked as they both got into Hollies car.

"We're gonna check Mouse's and Jay's place." Hollie said, putting her car into drive and pulling away from the curb.

"What are we looking for?" Adam asked when Hollie unlocked the door to Mouses apartment with her key.

"The obvious things, a note sayin where they've gone, missing photo." Hollie listed as she beelined for the spare bedroom and swiftly lifted the matteress from the bedframe to reveal a safe. Quickly she inputted the code that Mouse had told her in the case of an emergency.

The door popped open and revealed an empty safe.

"Shit." She mumbled, pulling her phone out of her pocket and ringing Mouses number for the fourth time.

Hey, this is Mouse, leave a message and I'll get back to you

"You find anything?" Adam asked, walking into the spare bedroom and seeing Hollie sat on the floor in front of the empty bedframe. "I'm gonna guess thats not good." He said, spotting the empty safe.

"You would be correct." Hollie said. "I'm gonna kill them both." She said, standing up and quickly grabbing one of Mouses jackets from his closet for the cold as she had left hers at the firehouse. "I don't think theres any point checking Jay's, it'll just be the same." She said. "I'll just drop you off at the district then go back to the hospital." Hollie said as they headed down the steps and back out onto the street.

"What can I do for you Sargent?" Goodwin asked as Voight was brought into her office.

"I'm sure you're aware of the current situation regarding Amelia Halstead?" Voight asked.

"Detective Lindsay has told me, yes." Goodwin said.

"We want to fake her death, some sort of complication or something that wasn't noticed." Voight explained.

"Why?" Goodwin asked.

"We believe the man who kidnapped her is also behind the fire and his plan was to kill her then kill himself or taunt the other siblings." Voight explained.

"So you think by faking her death he will reveal himself?" Goodwin asked, leaning back on her desk.

"I do." Voight said.

"I'll talk to Maggie, ask her to organise something for you." Sharon said, picking up her phone.

"I'll have one of my team pick Amelia up." Voight said, leaving the office to find Hollie and explain the plan to her and Erin.

"I'll ensure she leaves with someone I know." Sharon said, understanding his concern.

Aouthors note: I kinda hate this chapter...

But I wanted to get something posted and continue this story so please accept this crap until I can close this storyline and move onto something new x
