The past few days have consisted of Julian and I hanging with my mom and sister while he worked and my mom and I looked for jobs for me since I really needed to find something before the new semester started. It was a day before Christmas Eve and it's already been decided by my mother that my boyfriend would be spending the holiday with us since he didn't have anyone else to spend it with. Nina and her fiance went to her hometown to be with her parents and Andrea was back with her family while Matt was working during the holidays.

Jonah had been spending the past few days with Ivy, probably taking her Christmas shopping and whatnot with the money from her babysitting that she has been doing. I know that Jonah was spending time with his family during Christmas, so she was trying to spend time with him before he had to travel a few hours away since his family usually went to his grandmother's house.

I had completely finished shopping, spending way too much than I should have from my savings account. It was almost empty and I was already planning to break my lease for my apartment since I wouldn't be able to stay there if I don't pay rent. It was definitely humiliating having to move back in with my mom, but if it's what I had to do, then I would do it until I found a job.

I was currently sitting on the living room couch with my mom as we kept searching for a job for me. Julian had stepped outside to answer a call and I was starting to get frustrated with all this submitting my applications because I knew that I wouldn't hear back from most of these places, even though half of them were getting recommendations from my boyfriend since he had worked with them before.

"Okay, let's take a breather, alright? I think we did enough for today," my mom said, noticing my stress starting to rise. She grabbed my laptop, closing it and setting it on the coffee table with a sigh before turning towards me. "are you okay?"

"I'm fine, I'm just frustrated that this is what I'm doing two days before Christmas. I shouldn't have to do this," I whisper, rubbing my eyes with my palms as I try to control my emotions. I've gotten better with talking about losing my job, but it's definitely still something that hurts to think about.

"I know, baby, but let's not focus on that. Let's just be grateful that there are options in front of you that'll make it easier for you to find something. We're not completely hopeless when it comes to this because you went to a good school and have really great recommendations from Julian and Mia, okay?" My mom says, setting her hand on my cheek.

I nod my head, realizing that she's right. "You're right, I'm super grateful for that."

The front door opens and then persistent footsteps sound on the floor and the two of us look up at Julian when he walks in, immediately locking eyes with me. "Okay, so I need you to do me a favor."

I nod my head, sitting up as I notice that he looks frustrated at whatever was going on. "Yeah, anything, what's going on?"

He lets out a sigh, sitting in the chair next to the couch as he types something on his phone quickly before looking back over at me. "I have to meet with George at Well Sessions for some emergency meeting and while I was talking to his assistant, I got a call from Bradlee at Home Our Community and apparently, one of the girls in the house is having a rough time and they need help over there and I can't go right now, so would you mind going over there? You were super great with Derek last time we went, so maybe you could help again. It would be super helpful."

"Wait, you went to his non-profit?" My mom asks with confusion since I hadn't mentioned that to her.

Julian nods his head with a small smile. "Yeah, he was great. We've been having problems with one of our kids there that just moved into one of our group homes and Miles just walked in and fixed it. It was actually really impressive."
