The Bad Boy's Secret

Chapter 6

Rider's POV

It took about 30 minutes to finally get to Kat's house, we were on dirt roads most of the time. As we pulled up to a one story, white house with a wrap around porch. It was something I could see Kat growing up in, you look around and their land is protected by pine trees that are all around the property. We stopped and jumped out, Kat seems excited as she bounces up to us.

"Let me give you the grand tour" she said before leading us through the door that entered into the garage. We went up about five steps and all took off our shoes, Kat led us through the entryway and into the kitchen.

"Okay, so here is where I make all my fine cooked meals" she told us,

After she showed us her whole house she finished off the tour with the bedrooms. They had four, one for her dad, one for her and two guest bedrooms. Perfect. Jace called dibs on the the one closest to the bathroom so I took the one at the end of the hall, also really close to Kats door. I think Jace did that on purpose not that I was complaining.

Kat told us she was going to take a shower and to help ourselves to food. Jace went straight to the fridge, he pulled out country style ribs and started to eat them-cold. After he was done shoving food in his mouth he spoke,

"So you like Kat"

It wasn't a question, he knew, no sense on hiding it.

"Yea, I do." Was all I was going to say,

"Care to elaborate?"

"Not really."

Kat's POV

I was having a minor panic attack. Why you ask? Oh I'll give you one word: Rider.

He likes me? Wtf! How could he like me? I mean, come on! This is so cliqúe-bad boy and new girl. That's only happens in the romance novels that I read. This must be a prank, yeah thats what it is, a Prank.

I heard everything Jace and Rider were saying. I wasn't eavesdropping on purpose I just kinda heard my name and started to listen through the door. Okay, so I was officially eavesdropping. But I wanted to know!

Rider likes me. But do I like Rider?

I have no clue, I think he is sexy as hell! But I never thought he would actually like me. My head hurts, I'm done thinking about this and hearing it.

I open the door and avoid eye contact and hurry to my room. Talk about awkward I only had a towel covering my body and I could feel Riders eyes on me. Don't ask me how, I just could. Once I was safely in my room with a closed door, I let out the breath I didn't realize I was holding. I was shaking...

Yep, panic attack. Could he really like me? Or is this a prank? But how would they know I was listening? Damn I have got to get Rider out of my head. The best way to do that is horseback riding!

I throw on my riding jeans and my chinks and then a long sleeve shirt. Hair back in a braid, socks on and my favorite pair of boots.

As I open my door the murmurings I heard, go silent and I look up to see Jace confused and Rider panicking. You and me both, buddy. I thought sourly.

Jace spoke "I thought we were going to ride tomorrow?"

Ohh so that's why Rider is panicking, I internally laughed.

"I'm just going to ride around in the arena for a little while. It just on the other side of the barn..."

I could visibly see Rider relax. So I thought I'd make him sweat a little,

"...unless you guys want to ride with me? I can saddle everyone up and be ready in 20." I said, mentally giving myself a pat on my back.

Ride was quick to answer "No! Umm, nah were good"

I couldn't hold my laughter in, I bursts out laughing. It's so cute that he is scared of horses but is suppose to be the fearless badass. After I gained control of my body again, I wiped my tears and looked at Rider. His face was....no...really? His face was red...

"Rider, are you" I paused for dramatics "blushing?"

At that Jace started laughing and I joined him. Rider was starting to look pissed but this is what he gets for sharing my teddy bear secret.

Okay, time to go ride horse!

"Okay, I'll be back. Peace out, Girl Scout!"

I heard Jace still chuckling when I closed the door behind me. I practically ran to the barn, I saddled Cisco up so fast. It must have been a new record!

Cisco is my baby, I have had him ever since I was 4. He's 13 now but rides like a champ. I jump on Cisco and we head over to the arena, I loped him down for a while and then went into a continuous trot.

About an hour and a half later I headed back to the barn.

Rider's POV

Jace and I watched some tv but I was tired so I went into my room. As I walked past Kats room I peaked inside, it was clean and well put together. She had horse pictures everywhere, I wasn't snooping I was just passing by. I was going to go farther into her room when I heard the front door open. She's back! Not that I care or anything..oh who am I kidding, I like the girl. I went to my room and shut the door but stayed there and waited for her to go to her room. Which she did a couple minutes later.

Kat, I like you

Four words, man up and tell her! Damn I sound like a pussy. Just knowing that I like her is enough for me right now.

After a little while everyone went to bed and the house became silent. That is until I heard Kat's door creak open. I could practically hear her breathing,

Knock, knock

"Rider?" She sighed "are you awake?" She said this so quietly I almost think I'm hallucinating. The floor started to creak like she was moving away I flew out of bed and swung the door open. There stood Kat in her night shirt and sleep shorts. Damn she looks hot.

"I'm awake, what's up?

She came a little closer,

"I'm scared"

I was shocked, scared of what?

"Do you, umm, want to stay with, uhh, me?" I can't believe I asked her that, I must be into like self torture. But the way her face relaxed made me feel better,

"You don't mind do you? I just" she sigh "I don't want to be alone"

Instead of answering I grabbed her into a hug and pulled her towards the bed. I pulled the covers back and laid her down. I then returned to my side of the bed

"Goodnight, Kat."

"Goodnight, Rider"

And with that I was content. She was right here within arms length. But I want more, I want to hold her and kiss her and call her mine.

Kat's breath evened out so I knew she was asleep. I fell asleep shortly after and dreamt of Kat.
