Here are some reasons why I believe Snamione to be a very toxic pairing:

AGE GAP

Tonks and Lupin are a cute couple, some Snamione shippers argue, and they've got a twelve year age gap. Why is Snamione any different?

Well, there's a big difference between Remadora and Snamione. Firstly, Snamione has a twenty year age gap. I recognize this does not automatically indicate toxicity, but it's something that should definitely be considered, especially because Snape has known Hermione since she was eleven and he was her teacher. That sets up an unhealthy power dynamic right from the start. Remadora met when they were adults and are an example of a healthy age gap relationship. Snamione, meanwhile, is a predatory one.

HE BULLIED HER FOR YEARS

He mocked her, he made fun of her teeth to the point that she actually had them altered, he verbally abused her. He acted in an entirely inappropriate manner for a teacher toward a student. He was a bully. Why would she ever want to be with someone who did that to her? Why would you ship them when they already have such a problematic relationship?

Some Snamione shippers argue that they're a match because they're on the same level intellectually, that it's a meeting of the minds. Ridiculous. Snape insulted her intelligence, he refused to allow her to display her intelligence, he made her ashamed of her intelligence. That's not a meeting of the minds.

And we don't ship people based on if they're both smart. You wouldn't ship Hermione with Dumbledore, would you? Or Snape with Flitwick? Equal intelligence doesn't make a match.

HE WAS PREJUDICED AGAINST MUGGLE-BORNS

Snape followed the Death Eater line of thinking and considered Muggle-borns, save Lily, impure and undeserving of magic. Even if he could get past his prejudice to be with Hermione, I think she'd feel the same way Lily did about her being merely an exception to a rule.

SHE WOULD NEVER LOVE HIM

Unless you're doing an AU, you have to realize Snamione could never actually happen. Why would Hermione suddenly forgive years of verbal abuse? Why would Snape reverse them? It just doesn't make sense.

THE MORAL OF THE STORY:

Consider carefully before shipping Snamione, my children. In my opinion, it would be a predatory, unhealthy, abusive, straight-up toxic relationship.
