Words tumble out of your mouth,
Things normal people say to each other.
But in your case it's all just...
Broken promises and ugly lies.
They stain the air like cigarette smoke,
The same cigarette smoke we inhaled as kids in the backseat of your car.
But unlike when we were small I know now,
The once missed signs that your lying.
And yet much like a child I still blindly hope..
Hope that one day you'll visit or say your proud.
And I let that hope creep in and settle,
Only to remember the one lesson you taught me so well..
And that's poison only tastes like poison after you've swallowed your tea.
