I watched as Trevor worked with a new cutting horse. He got frustrated finally and had me get into the ring with the horse. A truck pulled up as I fixed the stirrups. Then got up in the saddle. Each calf had a different color collar on. I decided to go with the teal collar. I led the colt in a circle before going to approach the small group.

It's only Monday. Two days after Matt and I rode out to our spot. Where he kissed me. I spotted it and reined the colt to the side. He tossed his head. 'Ok. Let's try this.' I said to myself in my head. I spotted the white collared. Then went for it. He again tossed his head. I finally got an idea. He's confused with all of the collars.

I dismounted and led him out. I saw that Matt, Carson and his older brother were standing near the ring. "Find our what's wrong?" Trevor asked. "He's confused." I said. "There's too many with collars." "None have been like that." Trevor said. "He was bought. He's not used to all of the group having a collar on." I said.

"Have fun fixing it." Trevor said before walking off. He is the hardest boss I've ever had. "Matt. Wanna help?" I asked. "I can. Got nothing else to do right now." He said. I climbed over the rails and dropped to the dirt. I started slowly for the group. "Which color do you want to stay on?" Matt asked. "Blue." I answered.

He went left while I went right. Two came up to sniff me. I scratched them and took the green and purple color off. Then threw them over my shoulder. I worked my way through them getting three more. I looked up and over at Matt. He was getting the white and red collars off.

When we were done we put the collars on the side of the arena before I brought the colt back in. I tried it again. He's definitely used to one collar. I was able to cut the same one out five times before adding another collar with Matt's help. I then went another five times cutting the two with collars out then cutting the blue out.

All day long it was like that. Carson's older brother left about noon. Trevor came back about two to see the progress. "Try a different color." Matt yelled. I went for the white one. Split in half, then quad and finally got the white one out. All of the steers had collars on for this final test.

I went a few more times cutting out different colors. He worked well. As we exited the ring and I scratched his rump. He stretched out with me on his back before standing still. I dismounted leading him to the stable. I washed him and groomed him. Along with cleaning his hooves out. I put him in his stall with water before stretching myself.

"Not bad." Matt said. "There's always a reason for a horse acting up." I said. "Maybe one day you can have that ranch you wanted and get the career you dreamed of." He said. "I can't live that dream anymore." I said as I closed the door.

"Then what are you doing now?" He asked. "Getting my LPN degree." I said. "That's different." He said. "There is a clinic looking for an RN an hour away. I said that I was a CNA and was working my way to the RN position. Said I could do office work and basic stuff for them as I worked my way up to the RN position." I said.

There was a hurt look on his face. "I'm not going to be working at a hospital." I said. "It's not that." He said. "The pay would help." I said. "How much is it?" He asked. "Fifteen every hour I work. Days out of school I could get extra pocket money. And when the office is closed work for your uncle." I said.

He sighed. "I know we did say before that argument that this was what we were going to do, but since you left, I didn't know what to do or if you were coming back. I'm about to quit working here and work at that office. It's thirty minutes from the high school and fifteen from the votech." I said.

He looked even more hurt. "It's regular hours Matt. I'll see you at school and around here. I've got to get my foot in somewhere and this office is willing to get me in and help pay for my schooling." "You have changed." He said. "You have too." I said. He sighed. "That's all you've been doing is sighing. I put up with you leaving me here. I've got a right to not talk to you. I've got a huge right to just quit, get on with my life and still help my family.

"I want to get my own place, get out of my parents house so they don't have to feed me. My job here pays for a utility bill and feed for my horse. I can't get my own place because then I wouldn't have the money to pay for my own utilities and groceries. So I'm stuck until I can save up enough money so I can get out of the house." I said.

"You lived comfortably with your parents all these years, I never felt comfortable except at night when I went to bed once I hit my teen years. While we were dating even. Every time I would stay the night at your house, it was nice to know that I wouldn't have to give up a meal. I went without a meal multiple times including lunch." I said.

"Come here." He said. "Not anymore." I said before turning to leave. I was nearly to the door when I was grabbed around the waist and pulled back to his chest.
