 "Ten years before Volume One of RWBY"

Somewhere in the kingdom of Atlas a mysterious group of people lead by a man wearing cloths that are not worn by anyone anymore enters the house of a well known professor to discuss something of an importance.

?????: *motions his hands to a group of people behind him* Professor Draken you know why me and my associates have come to you correct?

Professor Draken: Yes you want me to take part in your expedition to the dragon continent but I must decline because I have my son Fafnir to take care of.

As if to prove a point an eight year old Fafnir walks into the room while rubbing his eyes and walking to where his father is.

Young Fafnir: Dad who are these people? Whats going on? *grabs onto his fathers arm while talking*

??????: *snaps his fingers after seeing Fafnir* Well now this gives me an idea if you don't want to leave your son then take him with you on the expedition Professor Draken

Professor Draken places a hand on his chin while giving the idea of taking young Fafnir with him on the expedition some thought before looking at his son.

Professor Draken: Well son would you like to join your old man on this expedition?

Young Fafnir: *looks up at his father before saying with excitement in both his eyes and voice* YES!

??????: Well now that everything is settled let's discuss when the team leaves for the dragon continent shall we professor * gives off an unnoticed smirk when saying that*

Timeskip to the expedition team somewhere on the dragon continent

Expedition Member: *runs into the camp made by the expedition team yelling* Professor we have found something strange at the dig site!

Professor Draken: *walks out of his tent* what do you mean something strange was found at the dig site?

Expedition Member: Its some sort of building or a type of temple, which is strange since there are no signs of a civilization living on this continent 

Professor Draken: Mmmmmm I want you to take me there but before we leave. Fafnir I want you to stay in this tent understand. 

Young Fafnir: *is too focused on looking at artifacts that have been found already to answer*

Professor Draken: Well its seems he's to into the artifacts that have been found already so lets head to the dig site and this strange building.

"At the Dig site in front of the strange building"

Professor Draken: *is looking at the door of the building* By just looking at the design of this door it appears to be a sort of temple however want intrigues me is this symbol in the middle of the door *motions his hands to the symbol which resembles a reptilian creature with wings*

Expedition Member: *notices the symbol that Professor Draken is pointing out* I wonder what the meaning of that symbol

Professor Draken: I don't know but it also seems that this door doesn't have any means of opening it.

Expedition Member: *looks closer at the symbol* Mmmmm what's happens if I touch the symbol *touch's the symbol*

After the Expedition member touched the symbol it fell into the door causing it to shake and collapse into dust releasing air that was trapped for centuries.

Professor Draken: Well who would have thought that the symbol on the door was the means to opening it, anyway lets start looking at the inside of this temple.
