As I lapse into conscious, the first thing I heard was the sound of impatient, anxious pacing and Fuegoleon counting, "Five hundred seventy-five...five hundred seventy-six...five hundred seventy-"

"Stop that," Nozel snapped.

I was a little confused. Where am I? What is this that's so soft to lay on? I blinked myself awake. I'm in a bed and in a room that was almost all white. There was a table nearby where Fuegoleon was sitting. He brightened noticing that I had sat up.

"Oh good, you're awake. Ahem, did you hear that Nozel? You can stop worrying now!"

"I am not worrying," Nozel said from halfway across the room.

"Of course that's what's he's going to deny. Anyway, how are you feeling? Hungry? You might be after that much jumping around. Or not since you ate an entire cafe's worth of food."

"I'm fine," I mumbled.

"Oh, while we brought you here, I noticed this in your hair," Fuegoleon brushed away some strands to reveal a silver braid tucked behind my ear. "Oh that. It's my animus streak. it can't be cut so we braid it to prevent it from trailing on the ground," I decided not to mention that it sometimes will show my mood. Not something that I want them to have an advantage of.

"Anyway, while the healers were looking for any broken bones, I've also noticed you do not have a grimore."

"What that?"

Fuegoleon pulled out the book on his belt.

"That floating glowing book?"

"Yup, if you're going to join the Magic Knights, you'll need one. It contains spells and will enhance your magic,"

"Grimore are usually given at age fifteen, but looks like your village isn't exactly handing out grimores," Nozel added.

"So we're taking you to the grimore tower," Fuegoleon finished.

Turns out that this building is a hospital, or a really big healers hut. As we walked through the one too many hallways, I noticed one room opened. I was not exactly delighted to see that the noble that I scrambled with was in there, however, I did find some enjoyment to see long blistering scars all over his body.

"Don't worry about him," Fuegoleon said over his shoulder.

"It's not his first time setting someone on fire, he's got plenty of experience," Nozel explained.

"I wasn't worried about that..." I rolled my eyes. "I was worried about how much trouble you'll be in after all this,"

"Don't worry about that, I'm royalty," Feugoleon said cheerily.

Not exactly the best excuse I've ever heard. Try explaining that to Arius if it was another person who found you in the forest.

There are more than one grimore tower in the Clover Kingdom of course, but the royal tower is by far the most impressive. Elegantly carved wooden bookshelves line every wall and spiraling book as far as the eye could see. In the center was a lapis platform which Fuegoleon and Nozel shoved me onto.

"Now what?" I asked.

"Wait,"

"Nothing's happening..."

"Wait,"

"Still nothing..."

"Keep waiting,"

"Is it ever possible for someone not to get a grimore?"

"Never happened as far as I known,"

"..."

"..."

"Even if you're not born in the Clover Kingdom?"

"There was this random buff guy who washed ashore and he got a grimore,"

"..."

"No magical sparkles and fire so far..."

"This isn't a ceremony. They usually do that when you're fifteen,"

"I'm starting to think this wouldn't work-"

My sentence was cut off by a bright blue flame. A glowing blue book on fire...

The strange thing is...unlike all the other grimores I've seen, this one didn't have a clover. In the clover's place was the Stellar Symbol. Pale blue stars were scattered across the leather cover.

The book hovered in the air. "Umm... "

"Ninny!" Nozel scoffed. "Pick it up,"

I hesitated because that fire looks hot, but plucked the book out of the air. To my relief, the book was cool as I flipped through the neat cream pages.  I expected some sort of writing, teaching me magic spells but each page was clearly empty. "Normal?" I asked.

"Yeah, over time you'll learn spells," Fuegoleon said.

"Okay, next up, Magic Knights!" I exclaimed with triumph.

"Before you get into the Magic Knights you need to pass an exam,"

"Okay! How much time do I have to prepare,"

"Fuegoleon sighed. "Good for you to arrive at such a convenient time. The exam is tomorrow,"
