I'm not sure if I walked or ran away from Skyler and Justin, but I did know that my heart was beating so fast that it felt like it would burst out of my chest.
I just needed to breathe. I was not going to turn into my mother and have panic attacks when things got out of control.
Placing my hand onto the red brick wall that outlined the school, I took deep and steady breaths while counting to 10.
Feeling a hand on my shoulder, I turned and was face to face with Adrian Ramirez.
Gosh this boy was handsome. 5'11 with chocolate eyes, dark wavy hair, light brown skin, and a set of dimples that drew you into his perfect smile.
I'm not sure how I looked staring at him, but it must have been like a gaping fish because shamefully, I felt a slight drool.
Gathering myself together, I conjured up my voice and a smile.
"Oh hey Adrian. What's up?"
Adrian's eyebrows furrowed, "Addie, are you okay? I saw you run over here and it looked like you were having a meltdown."
Dang it. I thought to myself. I did run.
"Ummmm. I'm cool. There's just alot on my plate right now and I needed to be alone."
Staring into my eyes, Adrian looked like he was searching for more than what I just said. Feeling overwhelmed by his concerned gaze I knew I needed to wrap up this conversation.
"Well if that's all then I'm going to head out." I stated while turning away.
"Hey Addie... Do you think it would be okay if I could call or text you sometimes?"
OMG. OMG. OMG. THIS IS HAPPENING. THIS IS REALLY HAPPENING. PLAY IT COOL ADDIE.
Tucking a loose strand of hair behind my head, I turned around and said, "Um. Sure."
I grabbed his phone and placed my number in it. "Text it so that I can have yours."
Walking away, I couldn't believe what just happened. If I hadn't just told Skyler and Justin that I needed my space, I'd be facetiming Skye squealing to the top of my lungs.
Blowing out a sigh I hear my message tone. Checking my phone, I click open the notification from the unknown number. It read,
"Hey Addie, it's Adrian. I hope this isn't too soon to be texting you, but here's my number. I hope you use it."
I seriously cannot believe my crush of two years is obviously interested in me! Do I play it cool, or do I show him I'm interested back?!
How about a mix of both.
"Hey Adrian, I'm saving your number now for definite use later on."
Rereading the text I added a wink face emoji..
"Ew no. Too much." I say aloud.
After feeling satisfied with my original text, I press send.
While walking home, Adrian and I share casual texts back and forth. I'm not sure where this is going, or if this is even something I need in my life right now, but I'm not going to complain.
After 15 or so minutes of walking, I make it to the front steps of my home.
Looking at the brown double doors. I contemplated what it would feel like to never have to enter this house again. I'm sure some people may have it worse, so my complaints need to be kept to a minimum.
Entering the house, I put my things down and make my way to the kitchen.
Surprisingly the house is empty. Mom is usually still at work, but dad is typically home around this time.
Taking some fruit and items to make a sandwich out of the refrigerator I prepare my food and make my way to the kitchen table.
Just as I prepare to take a bite out of my sandwich I get a text from my mom saying,
"Addie, I'm coming to pick you up. We're going to the hospital. Be ready in 10 minutes."
Wait. The hospital? Mom knows I don't like going there. Why is she trying to make me go?
Eating the rest of my sandwich I wash off the dirty dishes and wait on my mother to arrive.
The drive to the hospital was long and silent. Not knowing what was going on was killing me, but i'd rather not know than to be told something bad.
Walking down the familiar hall. We walk up to the door. Room 400. Taking a deep breath, I reach to open the door.
On the other side of the room, standing with a grin on his face is Titan.
"ADDIE!!' He yells out.
Too shocked to respond, I stand frozen. Taking in his entire appearance. He looks so different than the last time I saw him.
Letting out a breathless whisper, I say "Titan... Titan is this real?"
"Oh it's real baby sis." Titan says with the grin never leaving his face.
What in the world is going on....
