After I showered and changed my clothes I walked down to the kitchen.

“I made some dinner, do you want some?” Alice had an apron on and was stirring something around in a pot on the stove. I sat down at the little table in the kitchen.

“Sure.” I said. She picked up the pot from the stove and walked over to me.

“I know you like shells and cheese,” she said as she put a big helping on my plate. I smiled at her and started eating surprised at how hungry I was. She sat down in the seat across from me and started eating as well. She could do anything and somehow make it cute. Her eyes met mine from across the table and she winked at me.

“I really need to learn how to keep you out of my head,” I said as I rolled my eyes at her.

“It’s not that hard to do, you know,” she said.

“Well how do you do it?” I asked kind of annoyed.

“When you feel someone trying to read your mind you just block them out,” she scooped another spoonful into her mouth. “You just push them out of your head.” Then I could feel her reading my mind. I did my best to push her out of my head. She started shaking her head.

“Try again,” she said. I could feel her reading my mind again. I tried to push her out again. She shook her head again.

“No you have to really want that person out of your head, you have to want them out of your head more than you want to breathe,” she said in a stern voice. This time when she tried to read my mind I held my breath and visualized myself pushing her out of my head. I didn’t let myself breathe until I knew she was out of my head. She gave me an ear to ear smile, jumped out of her chair to run over to me and wrapped her arms around my neck. When I finally let myself breathe again Alice’s sweet scent filled my nose, mouth, and lungs. She pulled away to look at me she was sitting on my lap. I didn’t remember her sitting on me.

She gently placed her petite cold hands on both of my warm cheeks. Her eyes met mine and the corners of her mouth started to pull up into a small smile.

Before I had time to process what was happening her mouth was on mine. She stayed there sitting on my lap with her hands on my cheeks, and her soft lips pressed to mine. She slowly pulled away and looked at me in my eyes. I stared back at her, not knowing what had just happened or what to say about it. Her hands dropped from my face and she tried to read my mind. I pushed her out of my head. She stood up suddenly seeming embarrassed and quickly walked out of the room.

An hour later I stood outside of her bedroom door. I tried to open it but she had locked it.

Alice please let me in.                                                                                                                                 No answer.

Or come out of your room.

Still no answer.

I rested my head against her door and thought about how normal her kiss had felt. I almost missed her lips on mine. I could feel her reading my mind but this time I didn’t push her out. I heard her door unlock but she didn’t open it. After a second I opened the door and walked in. She sat in the middle of her bed with a book in her hand. She had her hair pulled back into a messy bun. Her eyes locked on mine.
