“River what the hell are you doing working for these sick psychos?!” I screamed at him. How could my best friend since kindergarten be working for these people that are trying to kill me?
“Don’t talk about ROIM like that! They are good people!” River’s face turned red from anger. I tried to read his mind but a sharp pain in my head and arms stopped me.
“Mr. Rollins these wires stop you from reading people’s minds. Every time you try the wires try to understand how you have the ability to do it,” Dr. Maston said as he scribbled something onto a clipboard.
“What did you do with Alice?” I asked.
“We are running tests on her as well. Don’t worry she is safe,” Dr. Maston said as he crossed the room to say something to the nurse.
“I doubt it,” I spit the words out like they were poison. River stood next to the metal table I was laying on.
“How could you do this to me?” I tried to make the hurt in my voice very clear. River didn’t seem phased by what I said.
“Just go along with the tests,” River said in a low voice without looking at me.
“Mr. Payne will you please go prep a testing room for Mr. Rollins please?” Dr. Maston said from across the room. River looked at me in my eyes once more then turned around and walked out of the room.
Dr. Maston took the wires out of my arms and head but strapped me to the metal table so I couldn’t try to make a run for it. He and the nurse wheeled me down a couple hallways and into another bright room. When they unhooked the straps that held me in place on the table they guided me over to a chair that looked like a dentist chair. Dr. Maston held his hand out to the chair.
“Have a seat please,” he said in that annoying voice of his.
“No,” I said as monotone as I could. Suddenly someone was shoving me into the chair and strapping me into place so I couldn’t move. Again.
“Wow you guys are really into restraints. I wonder if you guys are this kinky in bed too,” I spit the words out at them. Nobody laughed or said anything. The nurse secured a few wires on my right temple, then she secured a few more wires on my left temple.
“Now Mr. Rollins, this will go a lot smoother if you will just cooperate with us,” Dr. Maston said as he typed something into the computer in front of me. I just glared at him without saying anything. The nurse put a chalkboard with some words written on it.
“Mr. Rollins, will you please read these words out loud for us?” I hated how polite he sounded.
I just stared at the chalkboard but I didn’t read the words out loud or even in my head.
“Mr. Rollins read the words out loud please,” Dr. Maston said with a touch of annoyance in his voice. I looked over at him and did not read the words.
“I want to see Alice,” I said.
“That won’t be possible,” Dr. Maston said without looking up from his computer screen.
“Then it won’t be possible for me to read those words,” I said in a harsh voice.
“Mr. Rollins just read the damn words out loud,” He said through clenched teeth.
“Let me see Alice and then I will read the words out loud,” Dr. Maston threw his hands in the air.
“Fine. Nurse take him to see Ms. Gray,” I could hear the defeat in his voice. Pleased with myself I smirked at him. The nurse removed the wires from my head and took my arm to lead me out of the room. She led me down a few hallways before we stopped in front of a door. The nurse slid her name tag across a scanner on the door. The door opened and Alice was laying on a metal table, with wires all over her body.
