I woke up several hours later. It was completely dark except for the little light that the sky lights in the ceiling gave off. I could hear the quiet sounds of the people breathing around me. I turned over and laid on my back. Since there was no hope in me falling back asleep anytime soon I decided to try something. I quietly got out of my bed and checked to see if Alice was sleeping. She was laying on her side and her small body was tangled up with the blankets. Her long hair was partly covering her face. A piece of it was moving slightly every time she exhaled.

I reached over and gently moved the hair that was covering her face. She stirred a little but didn’t wake up. Most of the bruises were gone or almost gone. Even in this dim light, she looked perfect. I laid back down in my bed and closed my eyes, concentrating. I tired to read Alice’s mind. Slowly a scene started to appear in my own head.

A young girl with long blonde hair was chasing a toddler long curly blonde hair down a beach. Both of them were laughing hysterically. When the older girl reached out and grabbed the toddler, I saw that the two girls were Alice and May. Alice put May on her hip and bounced over to their parents who were sitting down on a blanket with a little brown basket between the two of them. May started clapping with joy when she saw Anne pull some sugar cookies out of the basket. Alice set May down and she waddled over to Anne who handed her a cookie. Lynden pasted cookies out to Anne, himself, and Alice.

Suddenly my mind went black and I opened my eyes. Alice must have woken up, or realized I was watching her dream and pushed me out.

That was one of my favorite memories from my childhood. Alice said in my head after a few minutes. I didn’t respond right away.

Isaac, I know you were watching.

        Sorry. I said nervously.

It’s okay, I don’t mind that much. I could hear Alice slowly let out a small breath.

When I can’t sleep I sometimes watch people’s dreams too. She added.

This was my first time even trying to watch someone else’s dream, it was pretty cool. It wasn’t just pretty cool, it was awesome.

Next time watch Milo’s dreams, he can’t tell when his dreams are being watched. She said with a touch of annoyance in her voice. I heard her shift around and I could tell the conversation was over. I turned over onto my side and closed my eyes.

I woke up to my face being smacked with a pillow. I opened my eyes and saw Milo standing next to my bed with a ear to ear smile on his face.

“Rise and shine sleepyhead.” He said with a cheerful voice. I shook my head slightly at him and smiled.

“Wake me up like that again and I’ll kick your butt.” I said smirking at him.

“If you even try to kick his butt, I’ll kick your butt.” Alice said as she climbed down from her bunk. I smirked at her.

“You couldn’t kick my butt even if you tried.” I said as I got out of bed. I put my hand on her shoulder to pull her in for a hug when she grabbed my wrist and twisted my arm around my back. She kicked my feet out from under me causing me to smack into the hard ground. With her hand still holding onto my wrist she sat down on my back.

“What was that you were saying?” She said. She released my arm and got up from my back. I pushed myself up into a sitting position. I shook out the throbbing pain my arm. Milo was laughing so hard he almost fell on his ass.
