I stared up at Dallin not knowing what to say. As if reading my thoughts, Dallin said, "Well, say something."

I opened my mouth, but hesitated, then asked, "Why are you here?"

He seemed taken back by my answer. Probably thought I was going to embrace him in a hug and let the past be forgotten. Well, I don't forgive very easily and most certainly don't forget.

"Well, um, just came down for a visit. I've served all the years I've wanted to while in the army." he explained.

"Oh, um, nice..." I murmured.

"So, it's about lunch time now. Want to go get something?" Dallin asked.

"Uh, no thanks. I'm not very-", I began to say, but right at that moment my stomach decided to growl.

Dallin smirked as my face reddened. "Come on, it won't take long. Besides, you can't lie about not being hungry now." With that, he started walking off towards the door. I put my book back on its shelf and went to grab my keys ane wallet in the back.

Why is he here? How does he know I own a bookstore and know where it's even located? How did he find out? What else does he know about me?

Questions of Dallin raced through my mind. I grabbed my keys and headed out to where Dallin was. By the time I was outside and turned around from locking up my store, I saw Dallin sitting on a motorcycle.

"Hop on." he told me.

There is no way I am getting on a motorcycle. Especially with him. The last time I got on a motorcycle with a guy I ended up getting pregnant. I do not want to get pregnant again unless I absolutely want to.

"I'll just take my car." I told him. I started to take the few steps to my car when Dallin spoke again.

"You don't have to be afraid, Willow. I'll drive careful, I promise." he reassured.

"I'm not afraid of the mtorcycle, Dallin. I've ridden one before." I retorted.

"You have?" he asked sounding really surprised.

I sighed, "Yes, Dallin. I was actually still living a life while you were away."

He looked hurt by my words. His eyes said it all, but he quickly covered it up. "We'll take your car then."

"We?"

"Yes 'we'." he mimicked. "Now come on, I'm starving!"

I unlocked the doors and we got in. Me in the driver's side, him on the passengers. To say the ride was awkward was an understatement. Even the music that was on the radio couldn't ease the tension in the air. What was I supposed to say to a guy I haven't seen in five years?

"Let's go to June's. I haven't been there in forever!" Dallin exclaimed.

"Okay." I said. I mean what else am I supposed to say?

In no later than fifteen minutes we arrived at June's Diner. June's has been here ever since I was little. I remember I'd always want to go just for the icecream. It has to be the best icecream I've ever eaten.

My eyes started to water as I thought of Jacob. The first time I took him here we had icecream. He absolutely loved it and ate it all up. I miss my little Jacob.

"Hey, you okay?" Dallin asked.

"Uh, yeah. Just...tired." I told him. I looked away and blinked my eyes a bit to make the tears go away. I looked back over at Dallin. "Ready to go in?"

"Yeah." he answered. I could tell he didn't seem convinced by my being tired.

We got out and headed into the diner. It was super crowded since it was lunch, but luckily we were able to find a booth in the back.
