"Danny stop!" I screamed as Daniel began to advance onto me. "Stop! Get away! You're drunk!"

"Shut up." Daniel demanded. He slowly started to push me roughly against the wall. The smell of alchohol reeked in his breath.

"Danny move!" I shoved him away. He stumbled backwards and caught himself on the counter before he fell to the ground. I dashed past him before he could try anything else. I heard him grunt and start to chase after me. I didn't get far before he tackled me to the ground. I landed roughly on my left arm and wailed in pain.

Jacob's cries joined mine from the other room. I had to get to him before Daniel did.

I tried my hardest to get up, but Daniel's overbearing weight was too much to bear. I felt him fumbling at his pants for something, then I heard the sound of his switchblade opening.

I started screaming as loud as I could muster. I tried wriggling out from under him, but couldn't. I could feel his hands pulling up the hem of my shirt over my stomach. He started to skim the sharp blade ever so slightly along the side of my stomach. Panic rushed through my body. Oh, God, he's going to kill me!

Jacob's cries still echoed throughout the house.

"What am I going to have to do to get that boy to shut up?!" Daniel barked.

"Stay away from my son, you filthy bastard!"

A piercing pain surged through my body as the blade pierced my skin. "Your son? YOUR SON?!" Daniel yelled as his blade dug deeper into my skin. I cried out louder in pain. "Let's see if you have a son by the time I'm done with him." he threatened.

"No! Daniel!" I screamed. He roughly got off of me and started heading into the room Jacob was in. I painfully got up from the floor and ran after Daniel to stop him. I grabbed his arm to try and pull him back, but he turned around and shoved me away. I lost my balance and fell backwards. Having nothing to catch my fall, I hit my head hard and my vision went black.

I woke up to see that the daylight that had filtered in earlier was now replaced with darkness. How long had I been out?

All the events that happened earlier came rushing back to me. My eyes widened. "Jacob." I mumbled. I got up, ignoring the pain throbbing from my head, arm, and stomach and raced into the room I left Jacob in.

Instead of finding him in his crib I saw his small, mangled body sprawled out on the floor. There was blood everywhere. My breathing hitched and tears began to form in my eyes as I stared. My poor Jacob. I bust out into cries and felt like I couldn't breath...

I woke up gasping for air. Beads of sweat covering me.

"It was just a bad dream, Willow. Just a bad dream." I reassured myself. Even if it was a dream it felt as if I was reliving that nightmare all over again.

I got out of bed and stripped from my night clothes. I headed into the shower to wash my night sweat away and get prepared for the day.

I stood there under the never ending stream of warm water as I thought of Jacob. Of Daniel. The memories of that night. The sirens. The small funeral for Jacob. The thought that Daniel still hasn't been caught.

I shivered at the thought that a monster like Daniel was still out there.

Coming out of my thoughts, I turned off the shower and dried off. One of the many advantages of living alone was that you could walk around naked and nobody would mind! It was a freedom I cherished.

I threw on an oversized hoodie, black leggings, and my beautiful combat boots. I put my hair up in a high pony tail, grabbed the keys to my beautiful, yellow '81 Toyota Landcruiser, and headed out to work.

My little bookstore was a little off into the woods, slightly secluded from the small town I lived in, but not by much. Mostly trees blocked the view of the bookstore and signs pointed the way towards it. It was quite most days. Most of the time no one would ever come in. But, it was enjoyable. I'd end up getting engulfed into a book and end up having a little adventure for the day. I've always loved reading. The thought that you could live someone else's life for a while intrigued me.

In no later than twenty minutes I arrived at my bookstore. I got out of my car, unlocked the door, and strolled in. I flicked on the light switch and my store lit up like a christmas tree, well, not really, but you get the idea.

I headed down to the back counter, weaving through the tall book cases that surrounded me.

I love the smell of all my books, it's so comforting to me.

On my way I picked up a random book from a shelf to read for the day. I placed the book on the counter and went to the backroom to put away my bag. Once I did that, I came back and picked up the book I was going to read.

The title read: "Lulu and the Bronotsaurus".

As much as I loved this book as a child, I did not want to read it now. I went back over to the shelf I took the book from and returned it to its designated spot. 'Maybe I'll just look around for a book. I mean, the store will probably be empty all day.' I thought to myself. So, I went off in search for a new book.

Three hours later I'm sitting on the ground, leaning against a book shelf, halfway through 'It's Kind of a Funny Story' by Ned Vizzini when I feel someone touch my arm. I jolt away as far away from whoever it is before they try and hurt me or something. I ungracefully got up to my feet and started to try and run away. The main word: try. I felt someone grab my arm again except this time a little firmer.

"Wait, wait. Sorry, I didn't know you'd react so..." I turned around to face the man talking to me. As I did, he let go of my arm and gestured to me, "...well, like that."

I looked him up and down. He wore a military uniform and looked oddly familiar. I looked back up to his face and noticed that we were too close for my liking. I stepped back and realized he was waiting for me to reply.

"Oh, um, sorry. I was just...really concentrated..." I told him awkwardly.

He quirked an eyebrow, "I can see." he smirked.

I looked down at his dog tags and saw that his last name is 'Williams'.

Williams.

Williams?

Why did that name sound so familiar? Then, it clicked. My eyes widened in realization, my mouth slightly fell open as I gaped at him.

"Hey, Willow."

All these emtions came running through me. Sadness, betrayel. Heart-broken. Hatred. And maybe...love.

My God, I'm reliving a nightmare.
