"So do you ever eat? Or sleep?" Jungkook asked between stuffing his mouth full of delicious, fluffy omelet that Taehyung had prepared for breakfast when he woke in the morning.
Taehyung sighed, watching intently as Jungkook devoured his food like a child.
"We don't eat human food like you do, but demons can eat certain things from this world." Taehyung left it at that, not wanting to explain that what they did eat meant slaughtering countless people for fun.
"We don't sleep either, but we can deeply meditate and kinda turn our brains off if we want to. Its similar to sleep, except there are never any dreams, just blackness."
Jungkook nodded, thinking over the new information while more questions spun through his head. He kept his mouth shut however and kept eating.
After breakfast, Jungkook texted his boss, giving him the best excuse he had as to why he missed 4 days of work without so much as a word.
He told him his mother died. Moments later he got a reply, the speed surprising him.
Sorry for your loss. Be back before the week is up if you want to keep your job.
Jungkook huffed, surprised at the coldness, but glad he still had a job to return to. He paused, wondering when he would be able to go back to what little of a normal life he had left. Another buzz sounded from his cell.
There was a guy looking for you yesterday. Blond kid, looked about your age.
Jungkooks heart leapt into his throat as he stared down at the message on his small devices screen.
His shaky fingers tapped out another question
What did he want?
Jungkook got no response for nearly 15 minutes until he heard his phone buzz again, alerting him of a message.
He wanted to know where he could find you for some family reunion thing? I gave him your address, figured it was ok.
Jungkooks hand trembled, the phone falling through his shaky fingers. He got up and began pacing, running his hands though his hair, breathing speeding up.
He wasn't safe at home anymore.
Taehyung sat up from where he was laying on the couch, sensing the distress coming from Jungkooks room he went to the door, quickly slipping inside only to find Jungkook with his head in his hands, breath ragged as if he just ran a mile.
Taehyung said nothing as he sat down next to the younger male, keeping a safe amount of room between them so that he wouldn't cause any further panic in the boys mind. He was lucky just to be able to be this close without sending the male running after all he had done and all Jungkook had been through.
"H-he knows where I live." Jungkooks voice held no inflection aside from the slight tremble that gave him away. Even if his voice hadn't shaken, Taehyung could clearly see how panicked he was.
Taehyungs stomach clenched. He had hoped Jimin would be slow to recover, but apparently he was already back in the human world, days after his destruction.
"It will be okay..." Taehyung concealed his own worry for the sake of Jungkook when in reality his mind was rushing, trying to figure out how best to counteract the maniac coming for his prized possession. Jungkook sniffed and lay his head down on to Taehyungs shoulder, causing him to jump slightly. It was always him who had to initiate any kind of physical contact... never Jungkook.
Taehyung hesitantly patted down the younger soft dark locks, breathing in the intoxicating smell that sent his mind into a frenzy.
"Don't leave me alone." Taehyungs ears strained at the soft words that whispered out of Jungkooks lips, almost not catching the faint request. Taehyung was more than a little bit surprised at the new side of Jungkook, but spent no time dwelling on it as he moved his own head to rest upon the one on his shoulders. He shut his eyes and let the waves of heat and pleasant smell waft over him, leaving him hypnotized.
Taehyung decided then that he'd do anything for the male in his arms, even if it meant his own destruction.
Jungkook was exhausted from all the worrying he had been doing since that morning. Taehyung had spent the rest of the time walking around, muttering in some foreign language, supposedly putting up defensive measures so that if someone came, he would know in time to counteract them.
Jungkook sipped at his cup of tea, relaxing into its warmth as is eyes grew heavier. He sighed, realizing that he had done not much more than sleep for the past week. His body was almost completely recovered, only a few faint ghostings of bruises here and there. The real exhaustion, however, lay in his mind. His own brain endlessly tormented itself over the event of the last month, even if he thought he had come to terms with it, there was still trauma in his subconscious that threatened his sanity. Even Taehyungs presence still set him on edge at times. Every time he felt himself growing closer, trusting the demon, he remembered the night when screams had filled the air, screams that were elicited because of Taehyungs actions. Jungkook had to constantly remind himself he was a demon. A monster. Yet as Jungkook felt his warm embrace, or ate his delicious cooking, or even gaze at his brilliant boxy smile, he struggled to remember the seemingly insignificant fact, or even care at all.
"Jungkook... I need to go take care of something." Taehyung watched him carefully as to gauge his reaction.
Jungkook swallowed before nodding once, a flash of hesitation sparkling in his eyes before he looked back down to his tea.
"You'll be fine, I just need to go arrange a... favor... from an old friend of mine."
