Hi guys! I'm the author. This is my first Deltarune fanfic, and I've decided to do a classic teenage drama. Disclaimer, Kris is male in this story. I'm also just gonna ignore the ending where Kris rips out his soul, cause I don't really know how to interpret that. Enjoy!

Kris twirled his pencil in hand, hardly bearing through Ms. Alphys's lecture on physics. It had been a couple of days since he and Susie went into the Dark World. He had hung out with Susie ever since.
His thoughts were interrupted by the bell.
"Okay, time t-to go to lunch!" Alphys stuttered, even though more than half the class had already made their way out the door.
Kris made his way out the door, giving the nervous monster words of encouragement along the way. He observed the hallway. Mostly the posters about the Sadie Hawkman's Dance. He hadn't given it much thought since they announced it. His mom kept pressuring him to ask someone. He never really had any options, except...
His thoughts halted almost as fast as his face. He fell on his butt, holding his nose.
"The hell...?" Mumbled a voice Kris knew all too well, "Kris, you okay?"
He got back up, smiling a little. He had walked face first into Susie. They laughed as they finished there walk to the lunchroom. Their conversation went as it would any other day, until Susie came out with a question out of left field.
"You going to the dance thing with anyone?" She asked.
Kris thought. Was he even going in the first place? Why not?
"I don't really know. Who would I even ask?" He answered.
Susie chuckled, "Ha, I bet there's plenty of people here you'd ask. You just don't have the guts!" She playfully slugged his arm, earning a smile.
The rest of the day went by fast. Not much homework, which was nice. He walked home, thinking about the dance. Who should I ask? Will she say yes? Does she even know I like her?
He pushed the thoughts out of his mind. The dance is stupid anyway. His mom calls is a "great social experience." That means it HAS to be bad. He kept walking until he passed by a familiar flower shop.
He made his way inside, trying to find his dad.
"Kris?" Asgore said from behind the counter, "What a pleasant surprise! Come in here!"
"Haha, hi, Dad." Kris gave his father a hug, which he lost control of when the much larger goat man hoisted him up and crushed the air out of his lungs.
"How is your mother?" He asked after putting a deflated Kris to the floor. "I have some flowers I would like you to deliver to her."
"Mom's fine. She's really excited about the dance at school," he answered.
"Are you excited about the dance?"
Why was everyone asking him about the dance?!
"I don't know yet. I'll figure it out later," Asgore handed Kris a beautiful bouquet of buttercups, Toriel's favorite.
"What about that Holiday girl? You used to be inseparable when Rudy brought her over to visit!"
Kris went a light shade of red. "Dad! We've barely talked in three years."
"That doesn't mean she's forgotten what a good friend you were." He looked at his watch. "You might want to head on home now, Kris. It was great having you over!"
"Later, Dad." Kris walked back home, taking in what his dad had told him. Should he ask out Noelle? Would she be interested? No way, he thought. She was a perfect student, straight A's, on the track team, and daughter of the mayor. She probably had guys on their knees wanting to go with her.
Another option was Susie. Ha, he thought, she'd have my face beaten into a pulp for even asking. There was no way he'd risk it.
He took a deep sniff of the buttercups. They reminded him of his childhood, when him and Noelle we're just kids. He used to give her little buttercups to put on her antlers. And ears. And face. And anywhere he could put them. He chuckled to himself as he felt his cheeks becoming warm.
With another whiff, he opened the door home. His mother greeted him, not too eager to see Asgore's gift. She immediately threw them away.
"I've told him a thousand times..." She mumbled to herself. "Hello, Kris. How was school?"
"Fine," he simply answered, walking up to his room.
"Dinner will be done soon!" She called up to him.
I've decided it, Kris thought to himself, I'm asking Noelle to the dance. But when? It was Wednesday night, and the dance was next Friday night. Tomorrow. He would ask her tomorrow.
He felt a newfound sense of pride. He was going to finally ask a girl out! Was he going to write a note? Ask her in person? A note will do. He flopped onto his bed, playing it out in his head. Him and Noelle, on the dance floor, holding each other close, until he goes in for the kill...
"Dinner's ready!" Toriel called from the kitchen, "I made your favorite!"
How long had he been fantasizing about Noelle? Why was he just now getting all giddy? He'd known Noelle his whole life.
He sat down opposite of his mom. He picked at his food, but didn't eat. What if she doesn't want to go with me? What if she's already going with someone?
"Kris?" Toriel called, "You haven't touched anything on your plate."
    "Sorry, I'm just confused..."
Toriel grew visibly uncomfortable and cleared her throat, "Well, your reaching a certain age that involves a lot of changes-"
"Mom!" He interrupted, "It's about the dance."
Goat mom perked up. "Have you asked anybody yet?"
    "I'm waiting til tomorrow."
    "Who is it?"
"Uh... I want to wait for an answer before I go off blabbering about it."
"Well, okay, just remember: I'm your mother. You can talk to me about anything."
The two sat contently and finished their meal, and Kris's mind was numbed of the possibility of rejection.

Alright, guys! This seems to have gotten a good start! Be sure to leave your thoughts in the comments. The next chapter will be out as soon as I can type it!
