It was most certainly strange. He was her mate, yet I fought to get to her. Why? Its been three weeks and five days and I can't get her out of my damn head.
I've been taking Polly juice potion so I could focuse more on my duties than a woman. I had also been increasing my training hours and lessons so I could distract myself. So I have been very sore here lately. That isn't working though.
My dreams had been filled with a slider females body covered in gray scales and one blind eye. Which I don't think was completely blind.
I just couldn't remember the woman. She never spoke, and never showed her face. It was driving me absolutely crazy.
So I sat in the north wing tower looking over maps of the area. I needed to set a new patrol system that continues night and day for every hour. But the land wasn't compliable to that. Making it harder to set a route.
I slammed my fist upon the table. All this stress was wearing me out. I had deep bags under my eyes from hardly any sleep, I rubbed them slowly. The doors flung open.
I could tell Howard's presence anywhere, so I didn't look up. "My king," he spoke bowing. I snapped my fingers and he stood. I walked over to the only window and looked down on the green land. Crossing my hands behind my back.
"The north sector is trading carvans upon the western kingdoms. They are not paying their prices in full. And the people are demanding their resources back." He finished quickly. And waited a response.
I turned slightly to him. My shadow from the falling sun covering his smaller frame. "Set up a meeting next Monday over dinner. I need more information. I want to speak to the council for over this matter." I turned back to the sun. Just beyond the mountains.
"Done sir." He said nodding once.
"Are their any other matters to discuss?" I asked wishing him to leave. He hummed.
"Well the mater three weeks ago would like to be qualified in tonights meeting. The council is getting impatient and needy My King." He finished growling into a low mumble.
I nodded. I knew no one really cared about it just lord Norm. He was always the nosey type. Never minding his own business.
I hated him. But he was part of the west council so he had to be apart of the meeting. After all this did happen in the western sector. He was the one who introduced the matter to the public. Earning him a near death experience by my hands.
Dinner was not really dinner tonight. I had a traitor amongst me. And I was going to find out who it was. Or at least try. No one else knew of my plan. No one.
How I found out, I was wondering around the halls and I had noticed the air smelt of sulphate. Sulphate was used in dark magic, used to cast it. No I'm not stupid.
Each of my council members are wearing a golden cursed pin. It is bound to only be worn when physically going somewhere, or in my realm. If you use teleportation spells, or dark magic to go outside of my realm with them on, they will be the only things left behind as evidence.
Of course no one but lord Howard and I knew of it. He was the only one I trusted, we had known each other since birth.
I leant against the wall and stared, just gazing at the sun.
Two days ago I was walking down the East Wing, I was on my way to the herb gardens and a strange voice caught my ear. It sounded like a shadow walker. But I doubted it. I didn't smell one.
Shadow walkers smell like fresh rain and a rotting carcass. And a very strong sent of mint leaves and lavender. Not a great combination.
I turned the corner and the only thing I saw was the silver pin and ash all around it.
