"Behind the tree." She pointed. I set her down against the brick wall. The smell of fruits and veggies filled my nose.
"This is my chance to finally leave. I can't give you much time. I want to leave before the sun rises." I told her looking at the now pink sky as little rain drips landed on my eyelashes.
"I know, but this is very important. Three weeks and two days from now you will hit your heat. Two days from then you will shift. Either that or the other way around." I looked at her as if she just grew three heads.
"We are the last Breeze. The only ones who determine the future of the next rightful King. The next path of -"
"What are you talking about?" I whisper yelled to her. I opened my mouth to speak again but she interrupted. Just as I had.
"A very evil man is looking you Breeze. He will not rest until he has you in his claws. Until you bare his mark and his child, he will not stop hunting you. That is why as a child I always snitched on you when you tried to leave the walls. They were the only thing protecting you from him."
I looked at her dead in the eyes. The night before I had a dream of man in black. His eyes a bright dead blue, and pupils slits. I could not define features but his eyes were the only thing that had shown. He said one word. "Finally." And I had woke up.
"I wish I could tell you more but I will not breath for much longer. You need to leave before he gets here. If he finds you alive he will kill anyone who opposes."
"Your coming with me." I left no room for arguement. I lifted her to her feet. She grunted but did not fight. We went back inside and she stopped. I glared at her.
"Get my money pouch from my chest." I nodded and bent down to open it. It clicked open, and there sat a giant red leather coin purse, filled to rim.
I snatched it and tied the top closed and we made our way back to the door. I opened it and looked out.
Thankfully the guard had just passed and we could make our way to the ally.
I pulled her with me. And closed the door. I rushed across the street as fast as I could with her weight on top of me. And just as the guard turned around to go down the road agian we stumbled into the ally.
But I didn't stop. The crack in the palace wall was so close. She spotted it to. I had a horse waiting just outside it and away from site.
"Come on." I said excitedly.
She grunted but slipped in the crack. I looked around watching for any eye and when I spotted none I slipped through. She stared at the animal in shock. Like she had never seen one before.
"Get on." I told her. But she looked at me confused. I rolled my eyes, and walked to the other side of the mare and stepped up and swung my leg over. She gave me her hand and I rolled my eyes again and pulled her up.
Two minutes later she was settled behind me and I smirked evily. I clicked my tongue and the horse started to walk down the small hill. But once we hit flat ground I kicked her and she took off.
A squeak flew from Briggets mouth. I found it pleasing that I had frightened her. She wrapped her arms around me tightly and buried her head in my back.
The rain had drenched us in seconds of being outside. The saddle was slippery but its was fine as long as I was out of the walls.
We entered the tree line and I pulled her back into a walk. "Don't ever do that again!" She whispered in my ear. I rolled my eyes, once again.
A few hours later the sun had come up and I was getting tired. We've been riding for hours but seems like days. I had wondered what the others would think whenever they saw I was not there. But it didn't matter now I was free and I could finally get some information on my family thanks to Bridget.
