I woke up slowly, my arms and back stiff from sleeping on the chair. My arm was sore from all the injections.
"Good morning!" Vlad's accented voice rang. Wait was this bitch watching. Me. Sleep?! Thats weird. He walked over to my chair and knelt down beside me.
"How are you feeling?"
"Fan-didily-damn-tastic." I mumbled, not thinking as the words left my mouth. He looked shocked.
"My my, aren't you spirited?" He said with a chuckle. I sighed and shut my eyes tight.
"When can I go home?" I mumbled, rubbing my head. He stared at me for a moment.
"Liebling, I'm sorry but that isn't an option." She cooed. My eyes widened What did he mean?! I couldn't leave?! The familiar sensation of panic washed over me. I gripped at my gown, it was too hot, everything was too hot. As I gasped for air Vlad rushed over to my side. He grabbed my shoulder and tires to restrain me.
"Liebling! Calm down! Just breathe, that's it, just take deep breaths." He said softly. "I've read your file, you often have panicky episodes, correct?" I nodded. He sighed and pulled a syringe out of his pocket. "Sorry liebling." He muttered before injecting me.I gasped softly as the needle pierced my skin. Soon I felt that familiar sense of complete calmness envelop me.
"so I-I can't leave?" I whispered after a few moments. Vlad sighed and tossed the needle into a trash bin.
"Policy." He said softly as he stood up and held his hand. "But why worry about that? Come libeling, we are going on a tour!" I gingerly took his gloved hand. He gently pulled me up out of the chair. I winced as my raw feet touched the cold concrete floor. "Can you walk?" He asked. I nodded quickly. Although it would hurt, it would be better than having this bitch carry me. He nodded, but his didn't let go of my hand.
"You can let go now." I said sharply, staring at his stupid face. He shook his head.
"If we are going through the lab, I can't. You are new and I can't tell you what we will run into." I cringed and tried go get as far away as him as possible. First he injects me?! Now we wants to hold my hand?! Who does he think he is?! "Would you prefer I just let you wander around on your own?" He muttered with a twinge of anger in his voice. "Liebling, trust me. You don't know this lab as I do. Bedsides, you are going to change the world! I can't afford to lose you. I highly doubt that you want to run in to Dr. Smith again..." he chided. I gulped and reluctantly accepted that he had a point. He smiled gently and pulled me toward the door. "Come along liebling! We have a long day ahead of us!"Vlad spent the next few hours dragging me around the labs. Everywhere we went other people would greet him or strike up a conversation. My feet ached and burned, my legs were heavy as lead, this one on hell of a day.
"Alright, Liebling this is th... Ah Clair!" He exclaimed. Walking down the corridor was a short, skinny woman with a head full of thin, chocolate brown hair. Trailing behind her was a tall boy with long dirty blonde hair. He had a sharp jaw, sad eyes, and plump lips. His thin limbs were adorned in bandages and band-aids"Felix! How have you been feeling?" Vlad asked
"I've been well sir" the boy said with a polite smile. How could he just sit there and smile at this insane bitch?!
"That's good to hear! Clair where are you off to?"
"Oh! Wells there's a meeting I must be at."
"Scheisse! I completely forgot!" Vlad cried. He turned to me, then turned to Felix. "Felix, are you headed to recreation?"
"I can be."
"Claire, would you be so kind as to have Felix show my Krista around?"
"Of course!" Claire chirped.
"Danke dir!" He said to the pair. "Libeling, stay with Felix!" He called as he and Claire strode down the halls"So you're Krista?"
"Mhmm"
"Ah. I-I'm Felix!" He said cheerfully. "Cmon. Let's head to the Rec-Room" he added. I nodded and fell into step beside him. A few moments of silence passed.
"So when did you get here?"
"A day or two ago... I think."
"Ah, Well feel lucky Dr. Vlad is your patron, he is arguably one of the kindest scientists in this facility."
"I sure will." I muttered sarcastically. "So how long have you been here?"
"Let's see... about five years.."
