The hard rain caught Wynnie off guard. She held her books close to her chest with one hand and the umbrella with the other. She makes it across the parking lot to the bus stop to go to her sister's apartment. Nia was cooking tonight.
Suddenly, as she made sure to look around her surroundings as Cairo suggested, a Rolls Royce pulled up to the bus stop. Missy Minnelli hops out of the luxury vehicle with a butler holding the umbrella over her head. Zippy follows shortly behind her with her own butler. My breath quickens for a moment.
"Wednesday...I've been looking all over campus for you." Missy stands in front of me. Zippy flanks her side. I feel cornered but I try not to show it.
"Why?" I smile but again, I feel cornered.
"It's been brought to my attention that you feel slighted about your credits from your former school. Am I correct?" Missy looks at me. She guides me to the car, and we take off. Where are we going? Have I been kidnapped? Zippy hands me a champagne glass.
"Relax girl...we just wanna talk." She giggles.
"First and foremost, I sabotaged those grades at Miami." Missy readily admitted.
"Why would you do that?" I swallow my anger. Now I feel conflicted. I want to be angry at this woman for ruining my good standing but at the same time, I can't even lie. I love my department here. And my sister is here. Okay, I am much happier here. But I miss my grandmother...oh my God.
My lip shakes for a moment.
"No need to act coy. I know that's fucked up and you're trying to process it." She said. "I know potential when I see it." She slung her arm around me.
"Potential?"
"Yes..." we pull up to my dorm now. "If you need anything, and I mean absolutely anything..." she's staring in my eyes now. "Don't hesitate to ask. I meant what I said at the ceremony." They let me out and drive away. What did she say at the ceremony?
