Looking around as the flames burned red into the evening sky, debris scattered. Fluff from toys and pillows floating through the air. A ringing sound resonating in her ears. Someone instantly grabbed her and began to turn her over. She launched her right arm to their collar and gripped tightly. Harvey took a hold over her forearm with his left hand. "Easy girl. Easy." He said. She let go and dropped her arm. He examined her body and stopped at her leg. "You're injured! Don't worry." He said and looked to her eyes. "Medics are on the way. You'll get help." He said. "How can they still exist?" She asked and sat up. Looking at a piece of debris in her left calf. "Don't look at it." Harvey advised. She looked away and at the people. Sirens blaring. "I'll get a medic." Harvey said and hurried away. She looked to the small wooden stake in her leg and grabbed it then pulled it out. Letting out a short Yelp as she did. Then spotted people blocking her view from Oswald and crawled to a crate and hid behind it. Breathing and holding her leg she wondered how she was gonna get out of this one now. "Eliza?!" Harvey called out. She hit her right fists onto the crate a few times. He looked then went to her. "You moved! And took it out of your leg? Why would you do that?" He asked. A medic began to bandage her. "Because I'm stronger than you think." She replied. He watched around. "Hey. Harvey." She called out. He looked to her again. "I don't want Oswald knowing I'm here." She said. "Why?" He asked her. "He's....it's complicated." She said. "Okay, well...your secret's safe with me." He replied. The medic finished patching her up and advised her to rest and left to assess other people. The fire department began to put out the blaze. "We gotta get back to the GCPD." She said and began to stand up. "Well you can't walk. I'll help you." He said and picked her up bridal style in his arms then hurried away out of sight from Oswald. He carried her into the GCPD building and upstairs to their desks. "Just wait here." He told her as he set her down. "We'll be back." He said and hurried down the stairs and back outside. She got off the Detective desk and hopped to the railing for the stairs up to the radio desk. Looking down at her wound, she hoped Hugo's serum is working. She limped up the stairs then collapsed as she made it to the top and dragged herself to out of view and breathed. Looking at her own blood nearly seeping through the bandage, she questioned Hugo's work.
The following morning, Jim went upstairs then looked to his right. At her sitting on the floor with her back against a desk. "Eliza? You were hurt?" He asked and crouched by her. "It's not that bad." She told him. "Help me up?" She asked. He took her hand and arm in his hands and helped her stand. "I was about to make a radio call. But if you need anything..." He said. "No. Go about your business." She told him. "They need to know." She told him, sternly. He gave a nod and left to the radio. She limped a bit to the desk and half sat on it. Not really feeling pain. Jim was telling the Government across the burned bridges about what happened. She looked to her bandages then bent down and grabbed the wrapping, ripping it apart and removing the wrapping and gauze she looked at her nearly healed wound. It worked! His serum is working! She limped to a trash can and threw away her bandaging. Then looked back to Jim as he cut communications. She made her way to near him and stopped. "No one's coming." She said. He looked to her, standing. "How are you standing? And where's your bandage?" He asked her. She gave a partially sly smile. Then arguments began to erupt downstairs. Jim began to head to the stairs and she looked over. The police and survivors of the blast were walking inside. Arguing and yelling. Jim began to head downstairs. She watched as he assured the people they will find who did that. She looked back to the map and radio desk then limped over and sat down in the chair. Looking at the map again with the markings written on it. She gently touched the area by the left eye of the face. Then turned her hand into a fist. There was bigger problems at stake. More to think about and do at this moment. The arguing people were finally settling down and took rest in the GCPD building.
After a while, Harvey came upstairs. "There you are! Hey, where's your bandage?" He asked her. "I threw it away. I don't need it." She said. "What do you mean? Of course you do. You're..." He said and looked at her healed leg with only a small mark showing. "What in the...?" He asked. She turned to him. "I told you. I'm stronger than you think." She said. "Who...are you? Some kind of mutant?" He asked. She stood and looked him in the eyes. "I am now. Thanks to Hugo Strange." She said. "Why would you trust that guy?!" He asked her, shocked. "He said there would be side effects. Like, I'd gain strength unimaginable to mankind. And I'd never die." She said. "What?! I...you let him make you immortal?!" He asked. "Well, I don't think it stops aging." She said. "You're....I have to go deal with some other issues right now. But, we'll deal with this later. And I'm telling Jim." He said and left her. "Go ahead." She told him. He jogged downstairs and she wandered seductively to the railing above and placed her hands on it. Looking out at the desks and police below. Now nothing can stop her. Oswald walked in with a group of guys. Eliza rolled over the desk behind her and hid behind it. Harvey called for the police to stick behind him and Oswald faced Harvey with the men too. Guns in hand. She sat down with her back against the desk drawers. Why hide from him? Why am I hiding? I could own, Penguin. She thought in her mind. But did she want to? No. She didn't want to be confined to City Hall and be cooped up again and him doting on her. Because he loves her. Jim walked in and spoke to Oswald. Then Oswald turned happy and had guns and ammunition brought in. Eliza peeked at the artillery and her eyes grew with want. Like a child in a candy store.
Jim, Harvey and Penguin all agreed to go after the bomber. Eliza turned with her back against the desk again. She couldn't do it. To go out on that mission and risk being seen by him and roped back into being Penguin's right hand. Lucius Fox made his way upstairs. "Eliza? Are you up here?" He asked. "Say it a little louder would you?" She asked. He walked to the desk then gently half sat on it. "I was sent here to ask you if you'd join them or stay here with me." He asked, kindly. "Those are my choices? Go out and shoot somebody or stay cooped up inside?" She asked. "If you want to put it that way..." He said. She huffed. "No. I'm staying." She said. He looked to below and moved his fingers flat swaying horizontally at his throat. "But I'd like to have a gun and ammo again." She said. He signalled a gun. Then looked to her. "Jim says come and get it." He said. She turned and peeked over the desk to see them leaving. Penguin's not in sight. A few cops stayed behind to keep an eye on things. She stood. "Why are you hiding?" Lucius asked as he followed her. "I'm not going back to Penguin. It's dreadful. The man is in love with me and drapes himself on me. It's sickening." She said. "But I thought you were with Zsasz." He replied. "No. We...went our seperate ways a long time ago." She said and made her way to the guns and ammunition. "Oh. Sorry to hear that." He said. She took a gun and looked to him then took ammunition and began to load the gun. "You're the first person to actually show me sympathy for that." She said. "But don't be sorry. He choked me out and left me for another woman." She said and loaded the gun then got it ready. But clicked on the safety. "Well, you deserve better." He said. She winked and walked on with him. "What are you doing Lucius?" She asked. "I'm trying to figure out how the bomb was built. So we don't see that happen again." He said. "He killed kids. Lucius. Kids. Count me in." She told him. "You still have a heart." He replied, with a smile. Then walked on with her.
They were at a desk with evidence of the scene and shrapnel pieces. Trying to piece it together. Eliza lifted her head in thought, from looking down then noticed someone sneaking, with a blanket covering them. She gave Lucius's arm a pat and pointed. He smiled and tagged her to come along and they snuck around. They quietly made it into the file room and Lucius hurried over and stole the file fromEdward Nygma. Eliza grinned happily and turned the safety off her gun as the men spoke. But Edward said a riddle. Lucius answered his riddle without hesitation or fault and walked away from him. "Hi Riddles." Eliza said and leaned on a cabinet with her arm over it and other hand at the trigger of the gun with it facing the roof. "Eliza. Why are you here?" Edward asked. "Wait. Do you have a thing with Jim now?" He added. "Safety's off knucklehead. Wanna ask me that again?" She asked him. "Nope." He responded. "Correct answer." She responded back. "Now why do you want a case file? Of..." She asked. "An inmate." Lucius continued. "It's a personal matter." Edward said. "I'll give it to you under one circumstance." Lucius told him. "Well, I don't have anything. No guns, so what is it?" Edward asked. "We need help with the bombing. Finding out how they built it, so it doesn't happen again." Lucius responded. "Wow. The second smartest man in Gotham wants my help." Edward said as he approached closer to Lucius. "It's not my expertise." Lucius told. "I didn't know you had one." Edward remarked. He grabbed the case file and tried to take it from Lucius but wasn't able to. Eliza snickered then pointed the gun to Edward's head. He let go. Lucius shook his head. "Fine." Edward complied and gave up. Eliza took the gun back to herself and turned the safety on then laughed.
