Exactly 10 minutes into Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, Billy Holmes knew that he was a wizard. For his next birthday, he demanded a wand so he could practice his magic. But when he recited the spells, nothing happened. He told himself that he wasn't of age, so his powers just hadn't come yet. The next year, he turned 11. He waited patiently for his Hogwarts letter to arrive, but it never did. By the time he turned 16, he had given up, and tucked that magical piece of his heart away. He turned his primary focus to acting, as he had always enjoyed performing. Through acting, he was able to transform into a different person and explore new worlds, just as reading had done for him long ago. A few years later, he landed an audition. This would be the most important role of his life—his breakout role as a young actor, and something of a reassurance for himself.
When he got a standing ovation on the opening night of Harry Potter: Wizardly Origins, his heart swelled with joy. He really was a wizard, just as he had always believed.
