Steve's POV
We are back at SHIELD headquarters 2.0 with the rest of the team. The mission was successful, at least so we hope. We are about to go give our report to Director Coulson now.
It still feels weird not having Fury as Director of SHIELD these days. He seems to enjoy retirement though and is currently enjoying it now, far away from here. What's even weirder is Phil Coulson being director, considering he's presumed dead.
"Did you get the arm?" Coulson asks as we approach him.
We as in the entire team; Vision, Wanda, Natasha, Sam, April, and I. I know I just met April and she technically isn't an official member of the team, but I still enjoy having her around. Besides the team itself isn't even official.
April is funny and kind. Plus, she makes me forget things around the world. She has a way of capturing you at the moment. Like today on our mission, I felt like everything she said was funny or somehow amusing. It took all my willpower to keep her on task because I liked it when she would forget the mission. She knows how to have fun. I have a lot of trouble with that.
I know I have already said this but April just seems happy and free. That makes me feel happy and free, and I happen to enjoy those feelings.
"Steve?"
I only just realize that they asked me a question because I was busy in my thoughts.
"Sorry, what did you say?" I ask someone.
I don't know who to ask because I do not know who addressed me.
"I asked if you think Stark will be any trouble in the future," Phil directed towards me.
"Oh, right," I say pretending that I was somewhat paying attention. "I'm not sure. Stark seemed curious at first but began to trust April way too quickly. It's unlike him," I answer the question finally.
"Well then, we will just have to keep an eye on him. For now, you guys have to work on training April to get her ready for the team," the Director commands and walks away.
"So this is actually happening?" Sam asks, but everyone seemed to ignore his question.
"You're actually joining the team?" I ask turning to April surprised.
She seemed so set on not doing this. I wonder what changed her mind.
"Yeah. An old friend reminded me this really old super soldier from the 1940s. Maybe you've heard of him. He's really nice but has got to be the clumsiest dude I have ever met, by far. His name is Steven Grant Rodgers, aka Captain America, but I hear he just goes by Steve these days," she smiles up at me referring to when we met.
"Ouch clumsy," I hiss placing a hand over my heart. "Well at least I'm nice," I laugh and so does she.
"Among other things."
And with that, April turns around and she's gone. She escapes in one of her breaches. I can only wonder where she went.
My stare is interrupted when I feel a hard pat on the back. I turn to Sam giving me a smirk.
"What?" I ask with irritation, knowing what he's thinking.
"She was totally flirting with you," Sam suggests, but I don't believe him.
"Yeah right. That's just how she acts all the time," I brush off his comment.
"Only with you. Besides, how would you know? You just met her," He asks leading me into the hallway.
Where did the rest of the team go? They must have already left.
I didn't even notice.
"Look, Steve, April is really nice and a total dork. If you like her, you need to go for it. She clearly likes you," he says.
"How do you know that?" I ask, still not believing my friend.
"Well for starters, when you were off in La La Land, most likely thinking about April, she kept looking over at you and getting closer. If that's not something, I don't know what is."
She was looking over at me? She was moving closer to me?
Wait, La La Land?
"Maybe you're right. I should just talk to her," I agree with Sam.
"Exactly, I'm always right."

Tony's POV
"Mr. Stark? You asked me to tell you when the tracker you put on the woman has stopped moving. It has," my lovely AI informs me while I sit in the new Avengers facility.
"Thanks, Friday. Where is this mystery girl?" I ask not taking my eyes off of my new suit.
It's nanotechnology. I already made prototypes for me and the kid. This is doing the real deal.
"That's the thing, sir, I have no idea. One second she was there and the next she was gone," Friday explains.
"Where was she before she disappeared?" I ask, think that could give me some sort of clue as to who she is and where she went.
"I'm not sure. When she started moving into the DC area, the tracker started to malfunction and jumped around the map," she tells me.
Well, that's helpful.
"Friday pull up the security footage of earlier. See if you can get a clear picture of her face and match it on facial recognition," I state.
"Right away, sir."
Where and who the hell is this girl?
"You have an incoming call from Happy Hogan," Friday tells me after about two seconds of silence.
"Pick it up," I say, stopping what I'm doing with my suit.
"What's up, Happy?" I ask with my general greeting tone.
"The plane crashed, and the kid, Parker, he got the guy with all the alien weapons," he states irritated, impressed, and surprised.
I am too if we are being completely honest. I didn't think the kid would appreciate my tough love. Guess I was wrong.
That's a first.
"Well, that is great news. Give the kids another day to relax and soak up all his success. It will give me time to get things ready. I want you to bring him here in about two days. I think he deserves his official title now. Thanks, Happy," I say then hang up the phone.
"Mr. Stark? I picked up a match. The woman from earlier is an April Smith. Loves to travel, has a blog, and has a clean background, not even a parking ticket," Friday says.
"Any idea what she was doing in the tower?"
"She stole a box from Dr. Paul Roberts, one of the engineers that worked in the tower. The box contains the contents for a metal arm designed for James Buchanan Barnes."
"Do we know why she took it?" I ask trying to remain somewhat calm.
Will I ever get rid of that man? Clearly not.
"No, sir. Miss Smith has no personal connections to Mr. Barnes," my AI tells me.
"Well, then it looks like we have some business to attend to."
April Smith will not last long.
