Adalia - POV.

It's freaking Monday, 7:45 AM to be exact. I have to leave by eight if I want to get to school on time. I quickly shower and throw on some ripped black jeans and a random shirt. I didn't have time to look. I also put on a comfortable gray cardigan. I decide to change my jeans and just go with some light gray jeans.

I brush my teeth and put my shoes on before grabbing my backpack and house key. I head out the house and to school. Surprisingly, I do know where I'm going. I see Nate walking as well, and I wave to him thinking he's gonna pay attention. He actually waves back. He jogs to me.

"You have school?" He asks.

"Yeah."

"What school?"

I tell him the school and it turns out we go to the same school now. My stomach growled- -I forgot to eat.

"I can tell you're hungry." He says.

"Yep. I'll just eat whatever's at school."

"No, no, don't do that. I got food poisoning once."

"Oh Lord, nevermind then."

"Here." He gives me a snack.

"What's this?"

"It's an oatmeal cream pie, it's great,"

"Okay,"

"Eat it."

"Wow, Nate, I haven't even known you for twenty-four hours yet and you're forcing me to eat." I joke.

"I feel like I know you enough though,"

"Eh, there's so much you can learn about one person in a limited time." I say.

"Yeah, true." He laughs. "Just eat it."

I take the plastic wrapping off and bite into it. He wasn't lying, it was delicious.

"Well?" He asks waiting for a reaction.

"Thanks Nate." I say smiling.

He jumps in front of me, "See, I knew you'd like it."

"Leave me alone."

(...)

The principal gave me a schedule and my locker combination. I walk out of his office and see Nate right in front of me. I jump back and he laughs.

"Sorry."

"It's fine."

"Where's your locker?"

"Number 108,"

"Oh, yours is near Jack's locker."

"Jack?" I ask.

"My best friend."

"I see."

"Well, let's go test it out, shall we?" I say as I follow him.

He shows me the way and I try my best to memorize. He brought me to my locker where I successfully unlock it on the first try.

"Yay!" I celebrate.

I turn to him and see a guy creeping up behind him. He has kinda short curly hair and glasses. He was relatively the same height as Nate. He puts a finger to his mouth and scares Nate to death.

"TAZE!" He yells while grabbing Nate's neck for less than a second.

Nate yells, "Oh my Lord, oh, wassup Jack."

Nate handshakes him.

"Sup."

I close my locker door and face then.

"Jack, this is Adalia. Adalia, Jack." We shake hands after Nate introduces us.

"Nice to meet you." I say.

"You too."

"What class have you got first?" Nate asks me.

"Math."

"Me too." Jack says.

"Ayee, same." Nate says trying to be cool.

The bell rang and we agreed to go to class. I just sit in this corner and kinda isolate myself from everyone. How did I get here before them? Anyway, after I asked myself that question, I see them walk in completely out of breath. They make their way toward me.

"You walk too fast." They say. I laugh it off.

They move desks and sit next to me. I listen to the teacher for attendance.

"Crap, Andrew isn't here." Jack whispers.

"Where's Andrew?" Nate asks.

"I dunno." Jack answers. "He's never missed a day of school."

"Forreal." Nate says.

I'm just making slime on the desk, I really don't know what to do at this point. Jack is impressed on how I make it so fast. He tried to do it himself but he got glue all over the table.

"How about I'll make some for you." I ask chuckling.

"Okay, go ahead." He says admitting defeat.

I make a nice fun size slime piece thing for him and for Nate again also.

"Thanks." Jack says smiling.

I welcome him and clean up the glue mess he made. The bell rings and we go to history class. Well, Jack and I went. Nate had to go to science or whatever. At least we all have lunch and/or some classes together.

A few minutes went by and someone opens the door out of breath. I could tell he was way taller than me and skinnier. He had a black t-shirt and black jeans on.

"Andrew!" Jack yells motioning him to come over.

Andrew gives something to the teacher before pulling a chair across from Jack and I. We wave at each other.

"Andrew, meet Adalia. Adalia, Andrew." Jack introduces us.

My goodness look at the size of his hands. I wonder if he can fit a bowling ball in his hands and think it's a tennis or even a golf ball. I can't wait to ask him that question. We exchange hands and listen to the teacher.

"You've been Dost." Andrew says randomly.

"What?" I ask.

"If I shake hands with anyone, you've been Dost. It's my last name and I made the whole process up." He explains.

"Ohh, is it permanent?" I laugh asking.

"Yeah."

A few more minutes later, we had science. We have a science fair after spring break and it's due there. The teacher said Nate wanted to work with us so of course we accepted.

Now we're at lunch. Finally Nate is here. I don't know, I just feel way comfortable around him.

"You hungry?" Nate asks.

"Nah."

"Don't make me give you another oatmeal cream pie."

"Fine, yes, I'm hungry." I give up.

He gives me some of his lunch.

"Your parents pack you well." I say.

"I know."

And as of that moment, he gave me an oatmeal cream pie.

"You're obsessed with these!" I say waving it around.

"Yup!" He says making me smile.

Andrew and Jack came and sat down with us. We had a good conversation but I mostly played on my phone. I look at the time and it's twelve pm. Only three more hours to go.

"So why were you late again?" Jack asks Andrew.

"I overslept."

"Typical Andrew." Nate and I say at the same time then look at each other surprised.
