Adalia - POV

Nate squeezed my hand indicating that he wanted to talk to me. I look at him as the others were having their random discussion.

He squeezed my hand again, probably because I zoned out. Did I zone out?

"Did you say something? I'm sorry." I apologized and he turned away from me.

"Nevermind, it-it's stupid." He awkwardly chuckled.

"Just say it again, I won't judge you." I slightly smiled.

Nate looked at me and paused. "Well, I was wondering if you'd ever had the thought about us actually getting together."

I guess I'll be honest.

"Well, sort of, I have these little fantasy daydreams during class." I immediately regret saying that because I think I sound weird.

Nate softly giggled and I joined in awkwardly.

"Um— me too. Is that weird?" He asked.

"I don't know,"

"So—uh— what are your daydreams about?" He looked down.

"I can't explain it. It's just so perfect I guess."

"Well, do you want to give it a try?"

"Give what a try?" I asked, obviously confused and nervous. I think I knew what he was talking about but at the same time I think I don't. My heart was racing.

"Us, maybe?"

I was right. Now, do I want to give it a try with him? It'll be one hell of a risk of heartbreak because I really like Nate. I think I might give it a try. This might work.

"Um," I smiled. "Sure."

His smile became larger and grew across his face.

"We should tell them," I say.

By now, I was expecting the others to hear us, but they were too focused in their own conversation. Nate still held my hand and we stood up.

"Guys," Nate spoke up. They became quieter and looked up at us. I blushed and covered my face with my free hand.

"Uh, how do I put this?" Nate looked down and smiled.

"What?" Jack questioned.

"We're together." I announced. "Now."

"Oh! Wow!" Jack stood up and hugged us. Andrew did too, then Lena.

"When did this happen?" Lena asked.

"Just now," Nate answered.

"In my house?!" Andrew jokingly yelled.

"Yes! My ship is sailing!" Jack yelled and Lena hit him.

"Ow!"

"Anyways, you should be holding hands permanently now." Lena joked.

"This is so cute," Jack remarked.

Soon, we all sat down and they began staring at us.

"What?" I giggled.

"We're just admiring you," Andrew smiled.

Nate and I looked at each other and back at them.

It is close to midnight and we decide to get ready for bed. Everyone was going to sleep on the floor with a lot of blankets and pillows. I lay down and pull a blanket up to me as Nate snuggled up to my side.

"Hey," Nate softly spoke.

"Hi,"

"Are we gonna be, like, awkward to each other now?" He chuckled.

I laughed, "Probably." I was definitely being awkward now. I just don't know what to say.

"Are you tired yet?" He asked before yawning.

"Yeah, and I can already tell you are."

"Yeah," Nate laid down and turned his head toward me. "I'll see you in the morning."

"You too," I watched him close his eyes and smile.

"Night everyone!" Lena called out.

"Night." Everyone returned.

I took a glance at Andrew who was laying near my feet. He had a huge smile on his face. I'm glad we decided to do this for him.

I close my eyes and trail off to sleep.

"Adalia," a voice called out, then they laughed. "Adalia, wake up."

I open my eyes and find a messy-haired Nate looking at me.

"Yeah?" I yawned then smiled.

"Good morning," Nate smiled. "Jack and I got bored, so we decided to wake you up."

"Why not the others?"

"They look like they're enjoying their sleep."

"And I wasn't?" I asked with a chuckle.

"I'm sorry."

"It's fine Nate, I was getting chased by someone anyway." I rub my eyes and get up.

"Let's go in the kitchen, Jack made pancakes." Nate took my hand and led us to the kitchen. Jack was sitting down at the counter, stuffing his face with the pancakes he just cooked. I notice a burnt one in the trash and I start giggling.

"No—" Jack turned a little red. "Don't look at that one!"

"Oh, Jack, no one's making fun of you." Nate smirked.

"So, what are you guys up to?" I asked while grabbing a plate and some pancakes.

"Nothing really, just talking." Jack said before he took a forkful of pancakes.

I reached for the syrup and poured it on my pancakes, then eating it while making small talk.

"Jack, I didn't know you could cook. This is amazing." I remarked, earning a smile from Jack.

"Thank you." Jack looked at Nate. "Someone enjoys my food."

I giggled.

"So, are we on Christmas break now?" Nate asked, changing the subject.

"Yeah, I guess so." Jack answered.

"What are you guys planning on doing for the holidays?" I asked.

"Opening presents." Nate laughed.

"Yeah, me too. I'm actually going out of town in a few days." Jack says.

"Oh, cool. Where are you going?"

"I think Chicago."

"Nice." Nate said.

"Well, Jack, I hope you have a good time and I'll try to find you a present before you go." I patted his back as I got up to put my plate in the sink.

"Thanks, Lia!" Jack smiled.

"Well, me too!" Nate exclaimed.

"Thanks, Nate." Jack laughed.
