Nate - POV
Finally, my weekend starts in about fifteen minutes. I haven't decided what I'm going to do yet.
Jack and I were in the gym wrapping up our free time and we sat on the chairs near the exit.
"Where's Andrew?" I ask.
"I dunno, he's probably in band or something."
"Oh, right. He did sign up."
"What are you doing today?" He asks.
"Probably sleep, you?"
"Build a fort."
"That seems cool."
"Yeah."
I got this funny feeling that made me think about Adalia, and it was almost like a sixth sense I've had for her. I hope she is okay because I'd hate for her first week here to end horrible. It also sucks that I can't go look for her because we get detention for wandering about in the hallways during periods. I miss her.
I had the urge to text her and ask if she's alright.
I pull my phone out and text her.
Me~ You alright?
I waited seconds for her to reply and no responses were given. She'd usually reply in five seconds or less. I felt my face tense up a bit, snapping me back to reality. Then, I realized that Jack slapped me.
"Dude!" I yell.
"What? You weren't answering me."
I stopped for a moment.
"Actually, thanks."
"For wha- I mean, you're welcome. What's wrong?"
"It's nothing, I'm just worried about Adalia."
"It'll be fine. She's all right because she's a fighter." He says.
I agree with him, she is a fighter. I nod understanding him.
"I hate how we get split up." I say.
"Huh?"
"Adalia and I."
"Oh, so you like her."
"Jack, I don't like her. I care about her."
"Sure you do. You're in denial."
"Anyways, I gotta go to the restroom." He says about to walk out.
"Jack! You need a pass!" I yell getting his attention.
"Oh, right!" He turns around and runs to the teacher getting a pass.
I look down at my phone to check if she replied. Still no response. I sigh and lean back in my chair.
My friend Jalena sits down taking Jack's seat.
"Hey." I say.
"Hi, you alright?" She asks.
"Ehh."
"What's wrong Nate-o?"
"Just worried about my friend."
"Isn't her name Adaline or something?"
"It's Adalia."
"She looks fun to hangout with."
"She is fun-" I pause. "Very fun."
"Yeah and about her,"
"Hmm?"
