I awake laying on stone bricks soaked by the rain coming from the dark clouds above. Being in pain from a stab wound to my left side. I look up and see a cloaked figure holding a sword toward my face. I glance around quickly trying to get a better sense of my surroundings. I'm in an old tower with many of the stones that once held this structure together lose what strength they had to time. I see on my left dark haired man laying face down on the ground not to far from me with a wound on his back that's bleeding profusely he's wearing from what I can tell a white long sleeve shirt and black slacks and boots. His hair is blowing gently in the breeze. I can see my sword teetering on the edge one of the archways on my right just a few feet away. The cloaked figures face is completely hidden from view wearing a black cloak that's tattered at the edges.

"You have failed boy." The cloaked figure says in a deep voice. I take my chance and roll from my my current position toward my sword. Before I make a full turn I'm kicked in the same spot I'm bleeding from on my side. I can't help but hold my side as I lay on the ground trying to catch my breath. "Were you going for this?" The cloaked figure says in the deep voice as I see my sword disappear than reappear in the cloaked figures right hand. "You couldn't protect him or your father. What makes you think, you a weak inexperienced boy has any chance against me?" The cloaked figure says with almost a laugh.

"If you weren't cheating and fighting dishorably you wouldn't stand a chance." I say as I get to my feet and stare at the cloaked figure. "Oh? Is that so? Well by all means why don't we do things your way and see how much better this works out for you." The cloaked figure almost laughs. Then tosses my sword down at my feet. "Go ahead and pick it up and ill stay right here till your ready." The cloaked figure says then they tap their feet.

I keep my sights set on the cloaked figure, as I take my left foot up under the handle and kick up my sword and grab the handle with my left hand. I grip the sword with both hands and aim toward the cloaked figure. "Cute trick." The cloaked figure says just before charging toward me. I hold my sword in a defensive stance my heart is pounding. I'm not sure I can beat them. how did I fail to protect that guy or father? There wasn't anything I could do to save him and I don't know about this man laying there. I think to myself as I glance at the man laying on the ground.

There's a lightning flash that lights up the area. And with that flash the cloaked figure swings their sword I block then they counter and hit my sword. In that instant I feel afraid. Am I going to make it? I need to go and check on that man. Where's Aria? Is she ok? I think to myself as we continue to exchange blows. "If I were you I would pay more attention to your enemy than what's going on around you!" The cloaked figure exclaims as they manage to knock my sword out my hand up in the air.

It feels like time slows to a crawl as I watch my sword go up in the air and come back down.
What am I going to do? How can I protect anyone is this my fate?! Can any one help me?! I wish Father was here! Aria! Those are the thoughts that come to my head as I watch the cloaked figure catch my sword by the handle. Then in one swift move runs me through with it. I Gasp the pain is unbearable. I take a few steps back the cloaked figure twists my sword from the wound in my stomach.

I fall to my knees I feel my eyes slowly close. "Oops I was aiming for your sheath but I must be getting rusty." The cloaked figure says then laughs. I stare as best I can at them. The blood seems to just keep pouring out. I try to move my arms to help cover the wounds but my arms have lost all their strength. The cloaked figure walks up to me and picks more up by grabbing my throat. With just one hand the cloaked figure picks me up and carries me towards the same archway my sword was dangling from earlier.

Is this what is to become of me? Am I truly unable to protect anyone? I think as I'm brought over the edge of the the tower. "I truly must be getting rusty usually a weak novice like you wouldn't have lasted a mere moment. You would have been dead before you could say your name." The cloaked figure states with an air of certanty. I struggle to breathe I manage to get my hands to grip around the arm of the cloaked figure which is wet and slippery from all the rain.

"Even now your thoughts go to how to stay alive and not how do I beat my opponent. You won't ever in a thousand years be able to defeat me. Your a weak pathetic novice with no chance of ever even touching me with your sword. Goodbye nameless failure may there be no one to mourn your passing." The cloaked figure says as I am dropped from the very top of tower which is very far  above a rocky shore below. I turn over and decide to meet my fate head on I can hear the sound of the water crash against the rocks grow louder and louder....
