"Are you supposed to be eating that?" Tricia asked. Lacey wrapped herself tighter in her blanket before grabbing her bowl.
"Its soup, lady," Lacey said. Tricia eyed her for a second before turning back towards the TV. Lacey sighed before cautiously eating her soup.
It had been almost two weeks since her trip to the hospital and her surgery was tomorrow morning. Shed been so scared to eat anything after what the nurse said, that shed unintentionally lost fifteen pounds. Lacey didnt mind the weight loss, but she couldnt wait until this was all over.
Tricia had taken a week off, today being the first day. After that, she and Rici would switch days until Lacey felt well enough to take care of herself. She didnt mind spending time with Tricia. Surprisingly, they had been getting along. Other than nagging Lacey about what she ate, Tricia had been treating her with a little more respect.
"When is the last time you can eat?" she asked.
"They said twelve hours, so seven."
"You want anything?"
"Just soup."
Tricia nodded. "So your friend hasnt been here," she said.
"Hes not my friend anymore," Lacey said, knowing Tricia was referring to Trig.
"Oh, thank God!" Tricia said. Lacey watched her in amusement. "He was so hood."
Lacey did nothing but laugh because Tricia was right. Even though she had fun with Trig, Lacey couldnt believe that shed messed with him for as long as she did. That was truly infatuation at its best.
She did love how he was so attentive and always complimented her, but turns out, she didnt need those things as much as she thought she did.
"Sometimes you just have to learn on your own," Tricia said after a while.
"Oh, you mean after you all but threw him out?" Lacey asked, jokingly.
"I sure thought about it," Tricia said. "You lucky you pay bills here."
Lacey shook her head as Tricia laughed. They ended up watching an episode of Criminal Minds as Lacey checked her phone. She had the usual random messages from Nikki and a few others.
Nik <3 : i luv the way u rock yo polo!
Rici: tell t I want some chili
Whit: work sucks!
Aiden: how u feelin boo??
TO AIDEN: dont call me that so yo chick can stalk me!
Lacey rolled her eyes at Aiden. She appreciated him for taking her to the hospital and she didnt mind their conversation. She just wasnt up for the drama with Nel. Regardless of the fact that she was having Aidens kid, they hadnt even known each other that long. Lacey was with him for two years but that was years ago. She didnt feel like their friendship was crossing any boundaries. She hadnt been disrespectful to Nel in anyway. It wasnt Laceys fault that Aiden couldnt be up front with his own girlfriend.
She waited a few seconds to see if he would respond. When he didnt, Lacey went to her Facebook Mobile app. She checked her notifications before updating her status. No more than five minutes later, Lacey got a call from Case.
"Whats wrong with you, pretty lady?"
"Huh?"
"Saw your status."
"You forever on Facebook."
"You're one to talk."
"Having my gallbladder removed."
