February 2007

"Nikki, don't drop my stuff!" Lacey yelled as she walked into the apartment behind Trig.

"I dont have to be helping you right now!"

Trig laughed as Lacey rolled her eyes. She had finally found an apartment. She wasnt trying to spend too much time moving in.

After her first year of college, Lacey decided to move back home. She didnt like ISU at all and that second semester depressed her. She ended up trying to transfer but after her first year, Lacey found out that her mother wasnt exactly taking care of what her financial aid didnt cover as promised.

Lacey owed ISU 2500 before the financial aid hold would be lifted for any school. Lacey moved home and got two jobs to pay it off, but ended up sitting out a semester.

She was so upset. Her and her mom seemed to get into arguments all the time now. Lacey couldnt wait to move out. Her first semester at Loyola, she wanted to make sure she could handle the bills but now she was confident that she could. She wanted to move before the semester started but couldnt find a place until a month later. Now she had her own place and she could do as she pleased.

Part of what she pleased was Trig.

Although she would be further away from Nikki and Miles Jr, she found out that Whitney stayed a few blocks away from her new apartment. She hadnt spoken to her much since the camp, but theyd made plans to chill together already.

"You love me," Lacey said, sticking her tongue out at Nikki.

"I'm serious Lace," Nikki complained. "I have to go pick up my boy, how many more boxes you got?"

"I got the last one," Trig said. Nikki sighed.

"Thank you God!" she said. "I'll be over next weekend."

Lacey rolled her eyes as Nikki kissed her on the cheek and said bye to Trig. She looked at him as he sat the box down.

"Lets christen the spot," he said. Lacey laughed before shaking her head.

It was a furnished apartment, which Lacey thanked God for. It had a modern theme with a lot of greys and reds. The only thing Lacey had to worry about was her bedroom and bathroom and whatever extra she wanted in the kitchen. To her surprise, her Uncle Arik had sent her a three hundred dollar gift card to Target. She was pretty much cool.

"I'm tired," she said. Trig walked up behind her and kissed the back of her neck. She grinned as he wrapped his arm around her waist and led her to the couch.

"Chill out for a second while I hook up the tv."

Lacey smiled at him, nodding and taking his advice. She hadnt known it last year but Trig was definitely an important part of her life. She felt bad about how they started out but his passion for her never seemed to fade. They werent real serious but they were together. Ever since Lacey had a conversation with Case a few months after shed met Trig, she knew she needed to let go of her feelings for him.

Flashback

"You been avoiding me?" Case asked. Lacey looked to Brina for an answer but all she could do was sit there confused, since she couldnt hear Case on the other end of the phone.

"No, I just been busy."

"I miss you."

Lacey closed her eyes. This was why she hadnt wanted to talk to him. He always made her feel like she was so important but kept her at arms length. Shed been on his facebook page a few days ago and saw him flirting with several girls. It made her wonder why he talked to her the way he did. She felt led on.
