Connor stared at the short boy, wonder in his eyes. Every high note, every key change melted together in a warm embrace. Evan had a gorgeous voice, and it was a shame he didn't use it more often. The irony was actually hysterical if you thought about, some kid with anxieties who sang like no tomorrow. He felt his face burning and red.

Evan looked back at the crowd pure terror in his eyes. Zoe tried to comfort him and he bolted. From upstairs Connor could hear his empty retching, and forced coughs.

"Hey, I'm going to check on him, y'all keep playing." Connor said with the least edge he could muster.
Everyone nodded, Zoe smiled subtly. Not one she pulled for the popular groups. Her genuine, perfect smile. Connor missed seeing his sister like this, they've been drifting apart for years now.

Connor knocked softly on the bathroom door. No answer.
"You have a nice voice." He commented. No answer.
"Evan are you okay?"
Connor heard muffled sobs emitting from the inside.

Evan stepped out (of the sun)of the restroom hoping the others would just disappear. Connor stood in the doorway waiting for him.
"Are you okay, Hansen?" Connor asked kindly.
Evan tried to hold back the sniffles,"Y-yeah f-f-fine. I don't d-o-o hangouts, or publicly s-singing, or socia-lizing for that matter.Im rambling, sorry, I talk too much. Usually that is not a good thi-"
Connor silenced his speaking.
"Yeah, I get it, but are you ready to come back down?"
"Yeah."
They walked down the stairs by each other's side. Jared just stared at them.
"So y'all finally came back from making out, nice to hear it."
"What the FERN, Jared! That never happened!"
Connor was about to back him up when he realized what he said. He turned to Evan.
"Did you just say what the FERN?"
"Yeah, he's too pure to curse." Jared replied.
"I'm not done with you yet, Kleinman." Connor said in his best angry mom voice.
Then Evan started to giggle hysterically. Everyone began to join in on the laughter. Connor stayed calm and edgy trying to withhold his persona.
Man Evan's cute. Listen to his little lau- Wait? Nononono. Shut your gay thoughts.
Connor scolded himself.
"Well, I'm done with truth or dare," Zoe said sounding flustered.
"I've got a s-spot it d-deck." Evan offered.
( For those of you who haven't played spot it, it's a card game where you get some cards depending on amount of players. These cards have funny doodles on them, these doodles have a match on each card in the deck. Your mission is to match up all your cards before the other players. It looks like this.)

"Yeah, sure lets play, actually lets play a bunch of board and card games. It's officially game night." Jared said
"Okay, b-but I'm warning you I-I have a lot of free t-t-time so I m really good at this game." Evan claimed cockily.
"Do my ears deceive me? I hear confidence? You're going down Hansen!" Zoe said in her usual dominant tone.
He cowered back, there goes his one ounce of pride.
The room was a buzz with yelling and laughing, and jokes no one understood. Evan did end up winning spot it twelve times. Zoe and her competitive ass won five. Connor was the dramatic kid who flipped the table after losing so much. They played chess, scrabble, twister, and Evan won them all. Zoe always got a close second, while the rest cried their shit streak away. Connor, yeah he gave up after three games, his. His bad boy record was lagging.
"Ha, I win again, in your faces losers." Evan said.
The group just laughed and rolled their eyes. No matter how jerky and show boaty he was being, his purity stopped it from being cocky. It sounded like his statements were questions to be honest.
Jared stared at his watch. 11:45.
"Well I gotta go. Surprisingly enough that wasn't a total waste." Jared said.
"Yeah, I have to head out too, my mom will be worried." Alana followed.
"Bye," the remaining three called after them.
" Hey Ev, can me and Zoe stay the night?"Connor started staring at his sister who was knocked out on the couch," We have some shit at home."
"First, its t-totally fine if you stay over, my mom won't mind. Second, watch your ferning language! Sweet Jesus Faist!"
"Jesus Faist?" Connor replied confusedly.
"G-google it," Evan said.
And Connor did google it. His face grew rosy. Then he shut down his phone, not wanting to go deeper into that dark, dark void.
Evan stepped to the kitchen, while Connor followed.
"What are you doing," he asked.
"Getting cereal, d-don't judge me."
"I get that, I see the cereal box in your hand, I mean why did you pour milk in before? Who even does that?"
"Me, I will eat my cereal however I want to."
He stuck his tongue out like an immature toddler. He set his bowl down and went to put the box away, when he tripped on his spoon, which had fallen. Evan toppled over, directly on top of Connor. Both their faces flushed profusely. They were inches away, lips almost touching. Connor stared into Evan's deep eyes.

Evan heard snickering from behind them. He turned around. Zoe was wide awake with her phone camera facing towards them. Evan immediately scrambled to get up off of Connor. He reached out his hand, and Connor hoisted himself to his feet.

Connor was red with fury.
"Zoe," he yelled.
"What," she said innocently," My ship is sailing, gotta get good footage for a collage later."
"What ship," Evan said with a mock voice of betrayal.
"Zoeee," Connor whined," delete it!"
"No can do, bro bro."
"It's completely platonic," Evan defended.
Zoe gave Connor a look. He knew what she was thinking.

No it wasn't.
