"You did amazing Violet, I have never seen someone take a dive like that for the ball and recover with a spike!" Brianna exclaimed to me with a smile. "Thanks Bri, but I couldn't have done that spike if you hadn't set the ball for me." I replied in the same mood. "Nah, you did most of the work, we totally killed them tonight, huh?" Brianna added. "Yeah I guess we did." I replied with a smile.
We both began walking out of the gym next to our collage where, we just had played a game of volleyball. "So is your mom doing alright?" Brianna suddenly asked me as we went through the double doors into the parking lot. I looked down to the ground. "Um, I don't know she hasn't spoken to me since before it happened." I said without looking back at her. "Are you serious?" she said with a pause as we stopped walking in the middle of the parking lot. My rounded green eyes looked deep into her light brown eyes with her looking straight back at me. Something just went off in me for what she said, and how she said it.
"And what do you mean by that?" I asked her with my arms crossed. "What is their to say, Violet. Your mother is unemployed, she stays in her bedroom all day long, hardly eats, and she treats you like you don't exist and your the one paying all of her bills having to skip classes to work." she finished with a paranoid expression on her face. My head exploded when I heard all of that. "You listen to me Brianna, because I am only going to say this once, my mother maybe going through a rough time right now because of what happened, but that still does not give you the reason for you to judge her because I'm still going through it. No one could ever get over something like that, so easily. Especially if it were someone that you loved to death. So the next time that you judge me and my mother again I won't ever talk to you again." I said as she looked at me with anger in her eyes.
"You know what Violet, that sounds great then, don't talk to me, don't call me, don't ask me for anything, don't even look at me anymore. I was just trying to help but I guess that you are just too blind to face the truth." She said as she turned around and began to march away from me in the opposite direction. I heard her feet trampling on the rest of the pavement as she came close to her dark blue colored jeep. I watched her get in, then heard the sound of her cars engine come to life. She began to back out of her parking spot, she then drove forward up to me, in the middle of the parking lot, I just watched her. She stopped in front of me and then rolled down her window, she turned to face me and I could tell that she was crying. I started to say " I'm not going to apologize because I shouldn't have to but if this is the way you want it to be Brie then I can't stop you, but if you just apologize, then we can just forget this ever happened, its your choice."
She then turned and looked down at her chest where I could see something dangling from her neck, a necklace I assumed. She let out a smile and laughed a little and said as she wiped a tear from eyes, " You are so full of it Violet but one day, you'll see what I was trying to warn you about, we're finished, as she quickly yanked the necklace from her neck and tossed it out of the window right in front of me and she slammed her gas pedal down and she speeded off.
I wiped the tears that slowly began to flow down my cheeks. I then walked over to where Brianna's necklace laid. I reached my hand out for it and i recognized it as her half of our BFF necklace. I remember i got this for us for her ninth birthday and that was about sixteen years ago, we have been friends for as long as i could remember and now its over between us as best friends. I turned over the locket to read the engrave i put on it which reads " Brianna, the sister and best friend i could ever ask for." A tear began to stream down my face as studied the words and played them over and over again in my mind. I then began to ask myself, "What did i just do, i was the one who took it to far, after all she was just trying to help like a best friend would, and most importantly she was the one kept me going after my mom shut me out. I then connected the necklace to my half of the our BFF necklace and then placed around my neck. I then reached for my back pocket and pulled out my phone, I scrolled through my contacts and found Brie's phone number, I clicked the call button and then put phone on my ear. It ranged about three times before an automatic messenger from her phone said " The number that you are trying to reach has blocked you from all social contact from he/she- I hung up the phone and mumbled to myself "What am I going to do?" Brianna was my ride home and I just can't walk, because I live about thirty minutes from where I am if used a car. I then just decided to get my stuff and get to the front of the building and see if I could find a ride. It was freezing and pitch black out here. The only thing that I saw for a source of light was the tall lights that stood all around the parking lot. "You look lost." an unfamiliar voice said as I turned to look at where the voice came from. Behind me stood an out line of a person who I figured was a man, because of the voice. I tried to not to panic, because I was seventeen so I shouldn't be afraid of a creepy guy who came out if nowhere. I decided to just play it cool because he might be nice enough to give me a ride. So I just tagged along with it. "Um, hello there sir I'm not lost I go to school here and I'm just looking for way home, I'd rather not be out here walking for and hour just get home." I replied to the man that sounded like he was in his late 30's. "Yeah I wouldn't want to do that either miss, but if want I can take you home." he said back. I then noticed him starting to walk closer in my direction. I then started second guessing my strategy, me wanting get a rid from a stranger, ist a great plan. I just decided to keep the conversation rolling. "Well that good, are you a local around here?" I asked to try and see if this guy is as friendly as he seems. "Yeah just moved here a couple of months ago and this is a nice town that you've got here." he replied as he finally stepped into a light that stood like ten feet away from me. I guess this guy seemed alright, but I needed to be sure so decided to test him. "What's the security code for this town then sir if you are a local then, everyone lives here should know it that's why they call it a security code to actually tell people who live here from people if they don't. I added with a smile, trying to sound as friendly as possible. There was a long pause and then the guy slowly began walk up to me. "Stay away from me!" I shouted at him as he continued towards. Screw this Violet, RUN!!!.I said myself as i started to run up the parking lot to where the exit is so might be able to get someone to help me. I looked back to see that he was coming after me and he was faster. Then when thought I about lose him, something got me from behind and ended making me trip. As fell I slid on the concrete and I felt my in my leg crack it hit the bark of the tree. I stayed their for moment without moving because I saw some blood slowly circling around me and i couldn't stand the pain every time I tried to move mostly from my leg which I knew was broken so I their was no way for me to escape. "Who the hell was the hell did he want with me?" Suddenly I began to hear foot steps come up from behind me. "What do you want with me?" I tried say out to the man without staggering. It doesn't matter, what matters is that I need you." he said as bent over me. "D###, you really screwed yourself up girl." he added with a chuckle. "Please, just take my money and leave me here." I pleaded with tears coming down my eyes. "Now we both know that's not what's going happen is it, Violet." he replied as pulled something out of his pocket. I knew that escaping what ever this was, kidnapping I guess was important but the thing that scared me the most was that he knows my name. "How the hell do you know my name?" I asked but he did answer. Just then I felt a sharp, piercing pain go though in my stomach which I was sure felt like a needle. I began to probably from the pain but mostly because I was scared of what would happen to my mom if he took me away, scared that Brie will never forgive me, and scared of what will happen to me and if I will join my father without my mother, alone. As I let out a yelp, the man began stroke my long blonde hair and said, "This is Rorke, I have her come get me at the school. Then he took the needle out of my stomach. Everything then started to become blurry, and my eyes were starting to get heavier. I tried to keep them up it didn't and then their was nothing but blackness.
