Her alarm beeped waking her up from a dreamless nap. Kana ruggedly opened one eye to look at the clock, 7:30 p.m. it read. She counted the hours in her head still under the covers. The girl had slept for seven hours!
After lying for a couple minutes, Kana finally got up from bed and slipped on some sweats over her shorts she had put on right before napping. She slipped on her house shoes and exited her room with a yawn. She shouldn't be late to whatever Shibuya-san wanted everyone to do.
At the same time, the twins have also exited their rooms and the three of them went together in the elevator.
"Hey guys, what do you think he needs all of us for?" The Anderson twins turned to Kana.
Eri went first. "I'm not sure. I'm more clueless as you are."
"Me neither. I just feel uncomfortable that they placed a cameras everywhere!" Ami waved her arms around. "Talk about some privacy..."
"Eh? They did?" Kana had no idea.
Eri chuckled a bit. "It was during your very long nap that you took. It was very interesting. They also took temperatures in all the floors and room as well."
"Aw man... I missed all of that?"
"Well Kana, if you hadn't been sleeping you wouldn't have missed all that technical stuff," Ami stated as she patted her back. Kana could only sigh in defeat. It wasn't her fault she was dead tired.
The elevator dinged at their arrival. One by one, the eighteen year olds got off and went to sit on the couches. Everyone was already there, including the members of SPR. Kana sat beside her uncle and Satou-san.
"Since everyone is here, we can go ahead and start," Shibuya-san said. Start what? "Thank you all for coming, allow me to have a little bit of your time." He suddenly pulled out a lamp of some sort. It was bulky and had only one big switch at the base. The bulb was as big as a water balloon. When he placed it on the table in front of them, Shibuya-san nodded to Mai across the room where the light switch was. She turned off the lights.
He turned it on.
A red glow grew from the bulb. It was slow and steady. As each second went by, the red light intensified until shrinking again to darkness. It was like this over and over.
What a strange light. Kana has never seen a lamp like this.
"Please focus on the light." It was Shibuya-san's voice. "Please match your breathing to the light."
His voice was clear and soft. Focusing her eyes onto the flashing light, she matched her breathing to it. In... out... in... out... in...
"Slowly now... relax your shoulders... Can you hear yourself breathing?"
Kana felt her drowsiness kick in. In... out... in... out...
"Inside your mind, please count your breaths." 1...... 2...... 3......
The tired girl couldn't even see the light clearly anymore. Her sleepiness has caused her eyelids to come down, she couldn't bring them back up anymore. Shibuya-san's voice was also becoming fainter.
"Tonight, the chair on the third floor of Room 106 will move." Chair? "Tonight, in the boarding house, in Room 106."
Room 106... chair... chair...
A bright light blinded Kana's eyes. She shut them and covered them with an arm. What just happened? A yawn erupted from her though.
"Very good. Thank you very much everyone. You may go back to what you were doing," the young handsome man said. Ah, another nap it is then.
