[Afternoon, Hisakawa Cafe]
"Are you sure you're fine?" Aoi asks Kana as she ate her lunch. The two girls were sitting at a booth away from the customers. Kana's uncle had taken the cash register spot while Shu was still working as he already had his lunch break.
Kana nods her head absentmindedly while eating a milk bread from the cafe. "Relax, it's not like I died."
"Yeah, but for me, I saw that tall scary looking man rush inside the cafe telling Haru-san that you're having a panic attack. I wanted to go upstairs, but Shu stopped me..." Aio blushes a bit.
Kana slaps her shoulder. "Hey! The victim is right in front of you."
"Sorry Kana-chann! But the way Shu carassed my arm tightly... I think our hearts beat in sync for a second," her eccentric friend says clasping her hands together.
"You're going to get your heart broken if you keep having feelings for him," Kana sighs crossing her arms after finishing her bread. "Do I have to repeat you what happened when he was in high school? There were so many chocolates and gifts on Valentine's Day and a bunch of annoying girls at the cafe."
"Yeah yeah yeah, and those annoying girls would cry and pester you about Shu. I get it. You were so lucky to see teenage version Shu. All I could see are the pictures. Speaking of lucky," the lavender haired girl glared at Kana. "I want an autograph from Norio."
"No. After your shift, you can literally ask him yourself."
"You know how I get around people I admire."
That statement made Kana recall the day Aoi first met Iori. They were both first years, and for winter break, Kana invited her to come watch Iori's ice skating competition that was hosted in Tokyo. She knew her friend supported Iori heavily from her constantly talking about how amazing he was. Plus, she wanted to give her best friend a surprise.
At the time, Aoi just knew that Kana had a new tenant at the boarding house. She had no idea it was the prodigy ice skater, Himura Iori.
When they received special pass to go into the backroom to meet him, Aoi was super shocked demanding her how much she spent money on her. All Kana did was smirk while leading her to Iori's resting room while Lawyer-san, the one who took them there, went to find their seats.
The moment Iori opened the door, Aoi couldn't function right. It was quite funny how she couldn't look at him in the eye and kept brushing her short hair behind her ear. Now they were cool, and Aoi got used to seeing Iori. Thinking about that time though brought out a giggle in Kana.
"What's so funny? You better not be thinking about-"
"The time you met Iori?"
"I thought we promised to move past it, it's embarrassing!"
"Alright, alright. I'll also ask your Norio for an autograph."
"Thank you! Well you look at the time, I got to get back to work," Aio says closing her bento box. "What will you be doing for the rest of the day since Shu stole your job?"
"I'll probably go see what the ghost hunters are up to," the black haired girl replied. "I kind of want to now what they think is going on."
"Hm, good idea. Well see you later then Kana."
"See you," Kana waves. After a few seconds, she gets up and heads back upstairs into the boarding house.
[Meanwhile, Dining Hall]
"Hmm, I don't get it. Anyone else think this ghost has something to do with Kana-chan?" Bou-san questions leaning next to the monitors.
Naru and Lin were in their respectful spots in front on the monitors. Both Mai and Ayako sat down at the table set near the three men.
"It can't be!" Mai shouts standing up. "Naru's experiment proved that there isn't a poltergeist, so it can't be Kana."
"Ah, is this what your intuition is saying?" Bou-san suggests.
"Definitely!"
"I mean, I understand that the other tenants in this house also got played around but... Kana did seem to get more attention by what ever is here. And according to Haru-san, items have stopped being switched. That was after the whole thump incident a day ago," Ayako points out.
Mai sighs dejectedly back into her seat.
"What do you think Naru?" Bou-san asks the silent young man. Naru was staring intently at the screen where he could see Kana about to enter into the elevator until she turned around going to the stairs.
"I have an idea," he says.
Everyone but Lin gasps in surprise. "Are you going to share with us?" Bou-san asks. Naru just gave him a dead stare meaning he wasn't going to share anything until he's correct about it.
Mai went back to sulking seeing that the narcissistic wasn't going to share what was on his mind yet.
"Mai, maybe you should go upstairs and take a nap," Bou-san says plopping his hand on her head. "Maybe your dreams can help us solve this case."
"A nap now?! It's still so bright, plus I'm not feeling tired right now."
"Oh Kana! Didn't think we would see you sooner," Ayako suddenly says. Everyone looked at the staircase where the young woman came from.
"Hi again. I hope I'm not bothering you guys... I just wanted to come by and see what you guys have so far."
"Not at all Kana-chan! Come over here, we were just telling Mai she needs to go take a nap," Bou-san says gesturing her to come where they were at.
"Nap," she says sitting next to Ayako. "Why would she need to take a nap while working?"
"I have latent ESP..." Mai shyly states rubbing the back of her head.
"Really?!" Kana quickly covers her mouth. "My uncle also has ESP."
"EHH?!" the three of them shouted. Lin and Naru also looked behind them to stare at the girl.
"Not Uncle Haru," Kana quickly corrects. "My other uncle, Uncle Haru's older brother. He's an item collector. Funny to say this out loud, but my uncle uses his ESP to find good items to collect."
"Wait a second," Bou-san says in a deep undertone. "Don't tell me your other uncle is..."
