"You should be resting," Shu said sitting down in front of her. She watch him as he wiped his hand with a towel.
"And miss out you working? Hell no. Oh! I should take a picture of you right now for documentation. I should send it to Iori too. He's missing out on everything happening right now," Kana says getting her phone out. Before she could take a picture, he covered the camera lens with his big hand.
"Don't," he said slipping her phone out of her hand.
"Hey!"
She watched him place it in his pocket apron. "I'll keep it for now. Speaking of Iori, he called earlier. He'll be coming back tomorrow. Daisuke said he'll be picking him up at the airport."
"Really?! I haven't been keeping up with the news. Did he win first place?"
"Mhm."
"Yes! That means udon tomorrow night! I've been craving for some."
"I see." Shu gets up. "Well I have to get back at doing your job. Go get some rest."
"Okay," she says giving him a wave. Kana also got up throwing her cup away. She went to the cash register and told Aio, "I'll be back for your lunch break."
"You better, we have so much to discuss."
"Yes, yes. See you later," and she went back upstairs to the living room.
As she was about to press the button of the elevator to go up, she stopped. Her finger just hovered above it as chills went down her spine.
It was behind her!
Kana turned around immediately pressing her back against the elevator doors. Her heart started racing as she breathed in and out darting her eyes in every direction.
Reminiscence of what happened last night appeared in her mind. She felt like she couldn't move and her breath were becoming short. Was this a panic attack?
[A few minutes ago, Dining Hall]
Naru glances in the direction of the elevator where the three had just went in after getting the equipment to retake the temperatures.
He recalled the incident last night. The monitors displayed the cold spot below Hashimoto-san when she fell. The microphones caught the poltergeist noises while the data also showed that the temperature there was below freezing. This was definitely not human.
"Kazuya," Lin said quickly.
He took off his headphones and looked at the monitor Lin was pointing at. It was the living room.
"The temperature is slightly decreasing," he said as both men watch the screen.
Hashimoto-san soon appeared coming from the cafe. They watch as she made her way towards the elevators to only stop.
Naru squinted as a cold spot was slowly appearing behind her. "Lin do you see that?"
"Yes, the temperature is dropping slowly as we speak."
Hashimoto-san suddenly turned around. As she turned, the cold spot was returning back to room temperature.
Noticing her abnormal movements, Naru gets up immediately. "She's having a panic attack, get Hisakawa-san now!"
Lin nods as both of them went their separate ways: Lin outside to the cafe and Naru up the stairs.
Naru ran up the steps and across the living room towards the girl. He could hear her fast pace breath getting shallower. Before she fell down, Naru caught her shoulders. Then he felt it. His eyes widened in disbelief.
[At the same time, Living Room]
Every second was getting harder to breathe. As Kana was about to slide down, a strong pair of arms caught her before she could.
She felt something weird, but it quickly went away.
"Calm down. Count with me slowly in your head while breathing in and out. 1, 2..."
And she did that until she finally did calm down. Kana opened her wet eyes to see Shibuya-san. Well that was a surprise.
"Hana!" Coming from the cafe was Lin and her uncle. Uncle Haru went to her side hugging her tight. "Hana are you okay?!"
"Uncle Haru..." Tears welled up in her eyes again. "Yeah," Kana replied hugging him back tightly.
Looking at the young man who calmed her panic attack, Haru said, "Thank you so much Shibuya."
"It was no problem."
The elevator dinged, and her uncle quickly pulled her up away from the doors. Mai, Bou-san, and Matsusaki-san came out looking surprised to see the situation.
"Oi... Hana-chan are you crying? What happened while we were gone?" Bou-san asked crossing his arms.
Both Mai and Matsuki-san looked worriedly at Hana.
After explaining what had happened, Matsusaki-san, or Ayako as she allowed Kana to call her that, did a quick check up on her. Apparently not only was she a miko, she has some nursing skills up her sleeve. Ayako told her how both of her parents are doctors.
"I brought us some tea," Mai says as she sets down a tray. It was just the three of them. Her uncle went back down to the cafe after making sure she was okay while the three men went back to the dining hall. Kana was guessing to look at the monitors for the moments before.
"Thank you Mai. And you too Ayako! I never had a panic attack before. I'll keep in mind what you told me in case I have them again," Kana says.
"I don't think you'll need to worry. This might be a one time thing given the situation," Ayako assured her.
Mai hands Kana a cup, and she gladly accepts it. She takes a sip and inhales the warm aroma. "Is this black tea?"
"Yes," Mai says handing Ayoko a cup. "Sorry, did you not like it?"
"No! I like any kind of tea, but green tea is my favorite."
"Oh me too Black tea is our boss's favorite tea, so that's basically all we carry," the younger girl states.
"If you like, we have a variety of teas in the cabinets downstairs. I can show them to you later."
"Ou, don't mind if we do," Ayako chips in smiling.
"Mai, are you still in school?" Kana questions. She was a little bit curious since the next day was a weekday. It was late-October too meaning this was the second term for the school year.
"I am. I'm in my third year, so I'll be graduating soon."
"Really? Are you going to go back? Tomorrow is a school day."
"Don't worry about this girl. She abuses her job to get some days off," Ayako says sipping her tea.
"I do not! My school allows me to when we have cases, which doesn't happen that often, so I have a proper excuse to miss school."
"Ah I see."
"What about you," Ayako asks.
"I already graduated earlier this year. Right now I decided to stay and help out with my uncle before going to a college. I haven't really decided what I wanted to do yet..."
"It's okay, me too. Though I should be deciding soon," she sighs. "If not, I think I'll be stuck working for Naru forever..."
"Isn't that what you want?" Ayako teased.
"Ayako!" Mai said red in the face.
"Oh, do you like Shibuya-san?" Kana asks innocently.
Mai quickly covered her mouth. "Shh!" She points to the camera near by. Oh yeah, there are microphones and cameras here.
Kana just grins under Mai's hand nodding. She could understand the younger girl. Shibuya-san was tall, handsome, and smart. Not only that, he runs his own ghost hunting business meaning he has money. What a catch.
"Does that mean you like Bou-san then?" Kana says deciding to tease the older woman next. Instead of a response, she got a beat on the head.
