"OH, WHAT ARE YOU GUYS DOING HERE?" Was the first thing that came out of Mia's mouth once she finally exited the music room, bored of playing the piano. The alpha twins stared down at their mate, both watching her every move.

Ethan stared into Mia's eyes, determined not to look away first. The brunette was certain that he knew she was trying to hide something, but still, she was determined to fool her.

The young female contorted her lips into an awkward, toothy smile, but her cheeks were not so compromising. She could feel their reluctance to be moulded falsely.

"Come on; let's get out of here." When the twins finally averted their gazes her smile fell lifeless, allowing her face to fall back to its previous blank expression. Every time they would glance at her, Mia made sure to look happy, and while her face lit up, her eyes didn't.

The twins walked over to their bike, the brunette getting onto the back of Aiden's motorcycle. She wrapped her arms around his waist, sighing as she felt comfort wrap her like a blanket.

She pressed her head against his back as he drove back to the apartment he shared with his pack. Ethan followed behind them, making sure to watch their mate from the back. The two were worried sick.

Ever since her mother passed, Mia had fallen into a state of darkness. She lost both parents. They made sure to know everything going on around her. They watched her during the morning and night, all taking shifts.

Ever since Mia told her mates about the scars she made on herself, the pack made sure that she could never do it again. They were always watching over.

The twins soon pulled up at their shared apartment with their pack. Helping Mia off the bike, the trio went up to their flat.

"We're back," Ethan called as he opened the door, allowing his mate and brother to enter first. The three other alphas in the apartment could smell the sweet scent of their mate. Kali and Ennis exited out of their room, the former wrapping her slender arms around her mate.

"Hello, little love," she smiled warmly, pressing a kiss to her temple. Mia snuggled into her arms, feeling secure in the older females arms.

"Hello," she mumbled into her neck, allowing the female alpha to hold her as she fell limp in her arms. Kali chuckled softly before wrapping an arm under the singer's legs and another around her back.

"Good morning, Mia." Deucalion greeted once Kali entered the living room with their shared mate in her arms. Mia flashed his a small smile, her body and mind exhausted. She felt both physically and mentally drained - emotionally as well.

"Are you tired, little love?" Ennis asked as he pushed back a fallen curl of brown locks. The singer nodded, yawning softly as Kali held her close to her chest.

"Kali." Deucalion addressed. "Let her sleep in your room." The female alpha didn't need to be told twice. She walked over to the room she shared with Ennis and placed their mate on the bed, putting her under the covers.

"Call us if you need anything." The two both kissed her forehead before they left the room, switching off the light as well. Mia curled into the covers, turning on her side and staring out the window, waiting for sleep to come but as always, it never came.

And so the hours went on, flying by without any recognition from their inhabitants. The grey skies and low clouds clung to her body and soul as if infectious, as Mia laid on her bed, hour by hour staring out that small window.

It was the only light in the room, illuminating the walls in its bleakness, spilling over the brunette's face. It had been a while since Mia last cried.

The brunette honestly thought she wasn't capable of it anymore. It wasn't that she didn't want to, some days all she wanted to do was nothing more than to curl up into a ball and have the tears wash away the heaviness in her chest. She just couldn't. They refused to form, to take shape and make their way silently down her face.

And she hated it.

she hated all of this.
