"Come on kids! We have to go!" Mum yelled from downstairs. It was two in the morning when she started yelling. We had to be at the school around three and all of our things were packed. I didn't bother going to sleep and so I was already ready to go. I walked down the stairs and sat in the living room. Mum charged me with getting Luna there safe and sound.
"Morning, Brother," Luna yawned. "Where's Mum?"
"Dunno, I haven't seen her," I responded. "But we should wait to say goodbye."
"Yeah..." She snuggled up next to me. "I hope we don't wait too long." She yawned again.
Sadly we did. Mum came down half an hour later. "Hey there loves! I'm glad you waited, I wanted to say goodbye before you left." She had flowers decorated throughout her hair like she used to. She gave Luna a big hug and told her to go out to my car.
"Mitchell, darling, I'm sorry..." I snapped my head up and met her eyes. They were full of sadness and dwindling hope. "My sweet Mitchell, I'm so sorry that I haven't been there for you much. I get possessed by spirits, and once you save me, I screw up even more by not paying much attention to you..."
"Mum stop it," I whispered. I walked over to her and gave her a hug. "Dammit all! Don't punish yourself with these feelings! It was my fault in the first place, so stop it!"
I could feel the tears falling from her eyes and onto my shirt. "Then you shouldn't blame yourself either, my darling..." She cleared her throat and stepped away. Mum pulled out an envelope. "This is for you. It explains who your biological father is and how you were conceived. Your father doesn't know you exist, and if you wish to go and talk to him, that's fine by me." Hands shaking, she gave me the letter.
"I- umm... I-" I couldn't come up with anything to say.
"Don't say anything. Just go to your camp and have fun. Please come back safely." She basically pushed me out the door. "Have fun, my darling."
I was an emotional mess, and then I had to pull myself together before I got in my car. I did so, and I was lucky that Luna was half asleep. "Hey, Brother, can I ride with you instead of riding the bus?"
"Heh, I don't know. I'm kinda an exception," I drove the rest of the way to the school in silence. I parked next to the busses and got out of the car. I grabbed Luna's suitcase from the trunk and wheeled it around to the front seat. I opened Luna's door and gently shook her awake.
"Hmm?" She mumbled. I half dragged her out the car. She leaned heavily against me as I wheeled her suitcase up to the school gymnasium.
"Hey man, I didn't expect you to carry both a person and a case in here," Nik said.
"He's not carrying me!" Luna protested. "I'm just leaning against him."
"He's carrying you sister," Mia said. Her and her sister, Zana, were standing on either side of Derek.
"Imma fight you," Luna mumbled out sleepily. She snuggled up closer against me.
"I'm sorry guys, she's just not a morning person." I joked. Luna playfully slapped my stomach.
"Wow is a freshman really going out with the taboo of the school?" A group of upperclassmen laughed as they walked by.
Luna immediately woke up and faced the group. "Eww... Why would I date my Brother? Besides, he's way better as a friend. Way better than some stuck up, snobby, jackasses."
"Luna, don't talk to the natives that way. You'll frighten them." I tried to pull her back, but she resisted. In fact, the guys and the Twins stood up for me as well.
