~~~~~~~~Mitch's POV (Several Days Later)~~~~~~~~~~
"Alright, what group wants to go first?" Mr Robin asked. The days passed quickly, and it was already the last day of camp. It usually felt like an eternity before the last day. I looked over at the other students and no one was volunteering.
"We'll go," Derek said behind me. I looked behind me and glared at him. He playfully shoved my arm'
"Good, good. Let's go outside." Mr Robin leads the class outside and positioned Alex, Nik, Derek, and I in the front of the class. "Do what you need, if nothing happens in the next five minutes your grade will go down."
I nodded and turned toward my friends. "Alright, guys. Derek, you start first with the incantation to support energy. Nik, you use the freezing spell to chill the air while Alex uses the fire Elemental spell to form his passion statue. You guys know the shift from there." I placed my hand on Derek's shoulder and the game began.
~~~~~~~~~~Mr Robin's POV~~~~~~~~~~
Watching the boys work was almost magical. Mitch ordered his team around like he was a general in a special magiks unit. I watched Mr Olsen start chanting an incantation in... Holy hell! He was chanting Elemental! I noticed that all the spells were also in Elemental. Mr Avila chanted some spell that caused the air to go even colder as Mr Sosa used a fire spell at the same time. I didn't understand what Mr Lee was doing. He went by tapping each of the others' shoulders, and the spells they were chanting seemed to get stronger.
Normally, when a conduit shares their power, they have to chant an incantation. Mitch wasn't saying anything. It was bizarre. But I had to say that the performance was amazing. They had something going on every second. They used wind, earth, water, and fire spells as well as defensive and healing spells.
The boys created beautiful ice statues as well as images of sports in the air made of fire. Vines swirled around creating fake video games along the ground. Suddenly Mr Lee started whistling a tune and the entire performance switched gears. The images of sports turned to music notes that swirled around the air and melted the ice statues. The air warmed as the boys stopped chanting entirely. A round of applause sounded from the students.
"Was that good enough?" Mr Lee asked, emotionless as usually.
"Don't be rude Mitch." Mr Avila said. "Also, can you give us a boost so we're not as tired?"
"Sure." Mr Lee held out his hand to each of them and I saw the colour return to the other boys' face.
I cleared my throat. "Alright boys, thank you for volunteering. Please stand with the rest of the class." I picked another group to go next.
~~~~~~~~~~Mitch's POV~~~~~~~~~~
The rest of the time we were with the class, it was boring. I ended up sitting next to a tree and I fell asleep. Alex ended up shaking me awake. "Mitch, you missed all the other groups."
"Don't care." I yawned. After stretching, I stood up. "What's the plan now?" I asked.
"Mr Robin wants to talk with us," Alex said. "Derek and Nik are over there already." I followed him into the refractory.
"We need to chat," Mr Robin asked before we were barely through the door. "Can you all speak Elemental, or were you just repeating words you found online?"
"I don't know what you mean, you peon," I said fluently in Elemental. "Normal people can't just speak Elemental. Are you insane or something? You are rather old, so maybe your hearing is failing." I went on a tirade in Elemental which caused Alex, Nik, and Derek to go into a laughing fit.
"Enough, enough. I get it." Mr Robin said. "How long have you been speaking such an ancient language?"
I switched to English halfway through my sentence. "-Oh well, I've been speaking since I was young, like a normal kid. These idiots learned miraculously over the summer."
"Holy... Shit... Mitch..." Nik panted. "That's so not cool."
"Anyways," I said. "What does it matter if we used Elemental spells?"
"There's nothing wrong with it," Mr Robin said quickly. "It's just confusing because not even powerful generals speak fluently in such an ancient language. I'm also curious about how you played a part in your performance. It looked like you just signalled the changes."
"He helped so much!" Nik exclaimed. "He organized us and taught us how to use the spells."
"He also taught me to use Elemental spells," Derek added.
"And he used his ability as a conduit to help elevate our spells more," Alex said.
"I believe you and all, but a conduit still chants to help give out their power. Mr Lee didn't say anything." Mr Robin responded.
I understood his scepticism. So, I held out my hand to him. "Here. I'll prove it to you."
"Alright. But I'm telling you, you have to chant in order to release energy." Mr Robin took hold of my hand. I took a deep breath and mentally pushed a small amount of my energy into the teacher.
I saw the surprise in his face and I let go of his hand, allowing the excess energy to leave his body. "Fun right. I've got all this energy and all I can do is give it to others. See ya at school." I stood up and left. Anytime I shared anything with anyone, my instinct was to leave. I heard the guys following behind me.
"Why do you always leave like that?" Alex asked.
I shrugged. "It doesn't matter. We should get ready to go." The guys didn't push it. We hung out for a while before the buses came. We parted ways when they got on the buses while I got into my car.
School started again tomorrow.
