~~~~~~~~~~Alex's POV~~~~~~~~~~
"Mitch looked like he was sick when he got back from lunch." Nik was saying as we walked out of the building. "Also, did anyone else notice that he was hiding his ears and tail? Like I get that he might be self-conscious about his eyes and all, but there is nothing wrong with being a werewolf."
"And if you use your brain, you would realize that he said that he'd been going to school with his ears hidden and so it would be weird if he randomly came to school like that," Derek said.
"He's got a point," I added. Nik grunted and stayed quiet. "How are you guys feeling about learning these new spells?"
"He's probably going to make me use an Elemental spell or something." Derek sighed.
We passed by an empty park on our way back home. "Hey, that looks like Mitch!" Nik exclaimed as we passed the park. He changed direction and walked to the swings. "Hey," Nik said. Mitch's head snapped up at the greeting.
"Oh... Hey..." He said. "Whatcha guys doing here?"
"We were on our way home," Nik said. "What are you doing here by yourself?"
"Reading." He held up the book in his hand. I noticed that it was an Elemental.
"Why not do that at your house?" I asked. He shrugged and didn't answer. "What was with your outburst during lunch?"
"Hanging out with people isn't really a good idea when it comes to me." He said. "It tends to get the shit beat out of me."
"What's that supposed to mean?" Derek asked.
"You're smart, you figure it out," Mitch said.
"I assume that you're doing research for the assignment," I said. "Do you want any help?"
"Sure..." He drawled out. He pulled out two more books and his laptop. "Tech-savvy kid gets the laptop, other two get the books."
Derek snatched the laptop from him as Nik and I grabbed the other two books. I grabbed 'Elemental Magiks.' I opened the book and started reading. Hours passed as we sat in a small circle on the grass. A while back, we had moved from the swings to the grass and sat down. The sky was turning dark now and I was almost done with the book. Mitch had finished his book and pulled out his phone and started researching things. We all had a list of spells that we could use to create the statues.
"We should probably get home now," I said.
"It is almost ten, so that's probably a good idea," Mitch said. He took back his stuff and put it in his backpack. "We can start practising these tomorrow."
"Then we should all head out then," Derek said. He, Nik, and I stood up. "Aren't you going home too?" Derek asked.
"No, I told my parents that I was at a friends house," Mitch said. "I'll be sleeping on a park bench."
"No your not," I told him. "It's cold out and you're coming with us now." I smiled at him and grabbed him. Throwing him over my shoulder, we started walking to my house. "Are you guys coming too, or..."
"I'll be going home," Nik said.
"Same here. You two can be by yourself." Derek responded. Mitch was holding onto my shirt tightly as he yelled at me.
"Dammit, Alex! Put me the fuck down! Alex!" Mitch continued cursing me as we walked. It took five minutes to reach my house. Derek and Nik said bye and walked away as I walked up to the front door.
"Where have you been, Alex?" Mom came up to me, checking for injuries. "Have you seen the time! I've been so worried!"
"Sorry, Mom... I was working on a project with Mitch." I said. I set Mitch down on his feet and he punched my arm.
