A bright ray of sunshine leaked out of the gap between my bedroom curtains. Scrunching my eyes together tightly, I pushed my arms and hands up into the air and made a baby dinosaur noise as I stretched. I sat up straight in my bed and slowly opened my eyes, taking in the bright purple colour of my bedroom walls. Still half asleep, I put my hand on the desk next to my bed and searched for my phone.
Me and James had made good progress over the past couple of weeks, I still don't have the guts to speak to him in school, but our friendship over the phone as increased drastically. We have now started talking until one of us falls asleep, which is usually about half 3 in the morning. This does affect how focused I am in school when I work, but everything seems worth it for James. It doesn't seem to be affecting him that badly though because he's the school bad ass and has a bad reputation with the teachers already. I'm in set 1 for everything except PE, which I'm absolutely terrible at because of my tiny, thin legs. James was in my set for English, set 1, but got moved down for back chatting the teacher, Mr Harlington. It was pretty funny to be perfectly honest. Mr Harlington is bald just to let you know, and James was being rude to him and Mr Harlington said,
"Don't you have any manners, James?"
"Don't you have any hair, Mr Harlington?" The whole class then erupted into laughter. Told you it was funny.
Other than just getting moved down in English, he is in Set 2 for PE as well, he doesn't try very hard, and in Set 3 for everything else. He's not that bright but his cuteness makes up for it.
Finally managing to find my phone, I unlocked it to find a message from James,
Morning Meggy, I hope you had a good night's sleep. Look forward to seeing you in school today :) x
I stared at the screen for a while, just staring and smiling at it, and I must have looked like a complete loon because my mum walked in to find me like that. She gave me the weirdest look ever,
"Megan, what are you smiling at?" she looks puzzled, and just carries on staring at me.
"Oh, erm, nothing Mum." I quickly switch my phone off before she manages to see what I actually was smiling at.
"Hmm. I think you're hiding something Megs." she stares long and hard at me, as if she's trying too see inside of me.
I shake my head at her, trying to look as honest as I can, "Seriously, Mum, I'm not. Honestly." She must have fell for the sincerity in my voice because she just gave me a quick glance sideways, and walked out the room. As soon as she'd gone, I turned my phone back on right away.
Morning J, I bet I'm looking forward to seeing you more x
I put my phone on the side of my bed and stepped towards the mirror. I looked terrible, I don't even know what he finds remotely interesting in me. My phone beeped from across the room, I tool one last look at myself in the mirror, sighed, and walked over to my phone, one word was on the screen.
Impossible x
Aw, how cute he thinks it's impossible that I'm looking forward to seeing him more than him seeing me. I laughed softly and thought of something to say.
Okay, well I'm looking forward to texting you straight after school, more than you are looking forward to it x
I put my phone down once again, and walked over to my wardrobe. It wasn't that fancy, just some jeans and t-shirts and a few dresses that I very rarely wore. I grabbed my boring, brown school trousers and blazer and placed it on my bed and then pulled my white blouse and stripey red and gold tie out of my chester drawers. Just as I was about to close my wardrobe door, something caught my eye. It was a school skirt. How long had I had that? I'd never worn it anyway. I pulled it out and examined it carefully, Brown with small, neat, little pleats all the way around it. It look cute and the size would still fit me. Maybe because James is looking forward to see me so much, I should make an effort to look nice for once. Then maybe, just maybe, he could fancy me. I quickly threw the skirt on my bed, picked up my trousers and put them back in the wardrobe, closing the door after it. I strutted back over to my bed and glanced at my phone again,
