"Man, I can't believe after everything that bitch ass ex-wife put you through, you're going to get married again." My best friend Derrick asked me after playing basketball.
"Man, you know that Dev is nothing like Kori bro. You know Dev is the real deal and even you like her." I said taking a drink of my Gatorade.
"Yea, Dev is the real deal. I'm happy for you man. I mean, after that bullshit that Kori did, I am just shocked that you wanted to take the big step again. When was the last time you seen little man?"
"Man, this damn girl keeps having excuses as to why I can't see him. I miss him bro. Dev, Connor and Justin ask about him all the time. I love having them, but I would be so much happier if I could have all my children together. Feel me?" I said thinking about my lil man.
"Man, I can't even imagine dealing with that shit you deal with. Marla and I have the best co-parenting relationship. Hell, a lot of the times she calls me before I call her to come get him." He laughed.
"But nigga you know that lil nigga is bad as fuck man. You are the only one he will listen to." I laughed.
"Yea, that's true too." We both laughed.
I loved the relationship that Derrick and his baby mother Marla have. They co-parent with no issues. They have an understanding and respect for each other. I wish Kori and I could have that but she too childish for that.
"Man, I just want to be able to see my son all the time. He needs me in his life just as much as I need him." I was feeling sad again.
I missed seeing him. I was tired of this and I was going to go over there and get my boy today.
"Aye, I'm about to get up out of here and go get my son. I got one day off, and I want to spend time with him." I said and dapped Derrick and left to take a shower and go and get Dallas.
Knock Knock
I sat there waiting for someone to come to the door. I was standing in front of Kori's mom apartment waiting for someone to open the door.
"Who is it?" I heard Korrin getting closer.
"It's Houston Korrin." I said and then I heard the locks pop.
She opened the door and moved to the side and I walked in.
"Hey Korrin, where's Dallas?" I said and then I heard little footsteps.
"Daddy!" I looked to see Dallas running towards me. I picked him up and kissed his face.
"Hey little man. Want to go with me today?" I said putting him down.
"Yes daddy. Is Connor and Justin gonna be there too?"
"Yep they sure will. Maybe we can have guy day." I said, and he started jumping up and down.
"I'm going to keep him for a couple nights Korrin. Go and get your pillow Dallas." Once he heard that he shot upstairs to his room.
"Does Kori know you're getting him today or that he's spending the night?" She asked with an attitude.
"Maybe, if she would answer her phone, she would have known I was coming over here today. I left her a message on her voicemail but, of course, she didn't answer.
"Well, you and Kori need to work this out like adults. I am tired of playing nanny when he has a perfectly able mother and father that can look after him." She said.
"You need to talk to your daughter about acting like an adult. I just want to see my son and I am here to get him. Where is she at anyways?" I asked not really caring.
"She's at work right now." She said, and I couldn't help but laugh.
"Work? Since when does Kori have a job?" I said knowing damn well this girl have been lying to her mother once again.
"She works at a call center and she get off at 3 in the morning."
I shook my head because Korrin believes anything that Kori says. I used to be that dumb, but I know better now. I was going to say something, but Dallas came running back down with his bag.
"I'm ready daddy"
"OK kiss grandma and tell her you will see her in a couple of days." I said ready to get out of here.
"OK be good for your daddy and granny will see you later." She said and kissed him.
I grabbed my son's hand and we were out the door. I looked down at him and I couldn't help but smile. I enjoyed spending time with my children and I was ready to tear the city up with my family.
