Kakashi's POV

Sakura looks back at me as she looks for something to hold on to and I try to grab her hand. She falls and I jump after her but there is nothing I can do to stop her falling. I watch her hit the rock floor as her body bounces a bit before hitting the ground again. She closes her eyes and I feel the fear and adrenaline run through my body as I finally get to her. I check her pulse. It's faint. but its there. I'm exhausted from the journey. The fight with the twins and now this. I haven't slept in over 24 hours now. I pick Sakura up and start walking her to the hospital.

I walk past Naruto cradling Hinata's body. He's crying and I wish there was something I could do to comfort him. I know there must be no greater pain than losing the love of your life. I have to get to the hospital before I know what that pain feels like.  I shake my head, that was mean but I can't think help but to think it.

I get to the hospital and the nurses who had stayed in the hospital to heal the injured after the fight. They run to me and I let them take her onto the table and into a room that I can't follow into.

I wait. I wait and I wait. Pacing the waiting room just like I did in the Sand Village. I get a up of coffee. 2 sugars and a ton of creamer. A nurse came out and told me I could go into the room and she can be discharged any time.

I walk in and she has her face under the covers and turned away from me. I sit on the edge of the bed and touch her shoulder, letting her know I'm here. The second I touch her she gasps and jumps away from me, almost falling of the bed. She turns her head to look at me and lets out a sigh of relief.

"Kakashi." her eyes start to fill with tears but refuses to let them fall. "I remember everything." She hugs me and puts her head against my shoulder.

"What do you remember?" She pulls away from me and looks into my eyes.

"I remember the pain. I remember the smell of my blood, as Shioko whipped me over and over. I remember the feeling of wanting to die and I remember begging for him to kill me." She started crying and couldn't finish her sentence.

"Shh shh. don't worry, I'm here. I'll protect you. Let's go home ok? The doctors said you were free to go." She looks at me and nods. I help her off the bed and we start to walk home. I know she can't go to her house. So I take her to mine and lay her on the bed.

"I should go to my house." As she says that I see that she remembers her house had been destroyed in the fight. She hangs her head in her hands. "What am I going to do?" She looks more angry than sad now.

"You could move in with me. I have an extra bedroom yo-" She cuts me off by holding her hand up telling me to stop.

"I can't move in with you. I told myself I wouldn't move in with a guy unless we're engaged." She gets embarrassed and her face gets red.

"Oh. I haven't proposed to you yet?" I said with a smirk, she looks at me and smiles a bit and shakes her head as she mouths the word 'no'

"Well. We're going to have to fix that sometime huh. Until then I know a really nice hotel a couple blocks from here you can stay in. You want me to take you?" I hoped she'd say no.

"I want to stay here tonight. If that's ok with you." She looks down at her feet scared of rejection. Like I'd ever say no.

"I would love it if you stayed here." She smiled and curled up on the bed. We've both had a long day. So I wrapped my arms around her and we fall asleep almost instantly.
