"Knock, knock." I heard someone knocking on the attic door. Knock, knock. I heard it again.
"Honey, it's time to go," I heard my mom say.
"Mhmm," I said loud as I could. I slowly opened my eyes. I turned around and looked at Trevor.
"Baby, wake up," I said to Trevor. He opened his eyes and started to stretch. I sat up and looked at him. I stretched too. I got up and so did Trevor. We both walked out of the attic and back to my mom. I finished packing my bag and started heading out. Trevor decided to carry my bags for me. We got downstairs and my parents had their bags in the corner.
"How long are we staying?" I asked my dad.
"Hopefully before graduation," my dad answered.
"Ok"
"Honey, did you write your speech?" my mom asked me.
"Yes," I said, "and Trevor helped me with it."
"My baby is Valedictorian," my mom said. I started smiling.
"I'm sooo proud of you," my dad asked.
"Me too," Trevor said as he kissed my cheek.
"Thank you."
"Well let's hit the road," my dad said. i got my bags and everyone else. We packed up the mini van and were on our way.
In the car, I was awake. Trevor and I had talked and talked. I've talked like that with Andre. I just had to ask this question.
"Baby, I'm sorry but I had to ask everyone this question," I said interrupting what he said.
"What is it baby?" Trevor asked.
"I wanted to ask you this question and I want you guys to be totally honest with me. Do you really think Andre and I are meant to be together?"
"I thought so in the beginning but now as your older, I don't think so," my mom said.
"You guys might be but to tell you the truth I knew it wasn't going to work out since you guys went out," my dad said looking through the rearview mirror. I looked at Trevor for his answer.
"Baby, I'm not just saying this because I want you but I don't think so. If you were meant to be you wouldn't have chose to be with me."
"Why?" my mom asked.
"Because I realized that Trevor and I have more in common, Andre just knows me well. Trevor and I have conversation where we can talk and talk about anything and Andre just comforts me when Im sad. I knew it wasn't going to work out with Andre but since I fell in love with him I still put it behind me. I don't know but I don't want to take my word for it, I want to see for myself. So I'll be hitched unto you until something happens," I said looking at Trevor.
"I can live with that," he said as he smiled and kissed me.
"When are you heading of to college, sweetie?" my mom asked me.
"I want to leave in August, get into my dorm and get settled."
"I'ma miss you."
"Mom...." I said.
"I'm not going to be far from home even though I'm living on campus."
"I know, but my baby is leaving, my only baby."
"Mom, is it ok if Trevor takes me to school?"
"But I want to see you off."
"You will before I leave home."
