This once-in-a-lifetime situation became a habit. Twice a week, Joyce was staying to have a coffee with Corentin. The other times, she was still just saying hello and leaving without further explanations, but Corentin did not really care. All that mattered were these days when they were grabbing a coffee after training, in the heat of the rather small coffee, hidden from everyone.

Corentin was looking forward to it, and even himself found it unusual. He was used to live with no expectations whatsoever, and now, he had one. He did not even know if his expectations were in the moment that they were sharing or in Joyce herself; he just knew that it was happening.

His motivation was increasing. He wanted to play the best football of his life; he wanted her to be impressed, and all the other people in the dark as well. He was starting to really find his place in this team, and that's all he could ask for.

His life was a major improvement, and he really loved it. He was beaming, and everyone could see it. His relatives, his teammates, even the press. The latters were suspecting him to have a significant other, and maybe his family was thinking the same, he did not know. But he was ignoring it. Joyce was not his girlfriend. She was just a very important person in his life. And that was enough. All he needed was to be surrounded, and Joyce was perfect for that. She was supportive, giving him advice, but she knew when to change the topic. To him, she was the best person he could have dreamed to meet, because he felt like his life could not have been fulfilled without her presence.

Little did he know that getting too attached to her would cause his loss.
