Hannah's P.O.V

It was another ordinary day at Castle Black, we were hoping for some new recruits soon, and to be honest we needed them, there were less than a thousand men manning the wall now, Castle Black was the only place being defended at the moment, and I wasn't going to be much help being a woman, even though I was better at fighting than any man here I couldn't do anything because Commander Mormont said that it wasn't suitable for a young lady like me, Commander Mormont has been like a father to me ever since I was left at Castle Black, I was abandoned here when I was merely an infant, I have no memory of my real parents, and no one will tell me anything about where I come from, Mormont said that when I was old enough to understand then he'd tell me everything, but when was that day going to come, I've done everything to show him that I'm ready to know but he never believes me, so I've just given up by now.

That morning I was busy cleaning out the dining hall when I heard the gates open, I looked out of the window and saw that Benjen had returned from his journey South to Winterfell, he had a few men with him, finally some new recruits, I finished up what I was doing and ran out to greet Benjen back, he's been like an uncle to me all these years.

"Benjen! Welcome back!" I called, leaping into his arms as he got off his horse.

"Oh Hannah, bringing sunshine to the day as always."

"Well in an environment like this someone has to."

Benjen chuckled and patted me on my shoulder.

"Hannah we have a few new men for the watch, I'd like you to show them around."

"Okay, Benjen."

"First Hannah, I'd like you to meet my nephew Jon Snow."

"The Jon Snow of Winterfell? Ned Stark's bastard?"

"That's me." said Jon.

I was rather taken aback from seeing Jon, he was probably around my age sort of sixteen, seventeen, he had dark thick curly hair, dark brown eyes, and a small amount of stubble on his chin, he was probably the most handsome guy I've ever seen at the Night's Watch.

I was introduced to the rest of the men and started showing them around Castle Black.

"Okay men listen up, where we are right now, this is the training grounds, you'll start to get pretty familiar with this place rather quickly, and you see those big gates over there? That's the only way through to the other side of the wall...well...not the only way if you fancy scaling down the other side yourselves." some of the men chuckled. "Follow me." I led them up the steps towards the dining hall. "This here is the dining hall, we all meet up in here for meals and sometimes for meetings, and down here is the way to the quarters, some of you will be able to squeeze into the shared quarters at the end of the corridor, so you can make your way down there now if you like and get settled in." The men started walking down the corridor thanking me for showing them around, some of them even calling me "m'lady", which I hated, Jon was about to follow them down when I stopped him. "Hang on Jon, your uncle Benjen has made you an exception, your quarters will be down here a few doors down from mine."

"Oh, thank you m'lady."

"Please don't call me m'lady, it makes me sound like a noblewoman, and trust me I've no right to that title."

"Why?"

"Because I'm not a noblewoman, I was left here when I was an infant, as far as I know, I may be a bastard like you."

"So you've lived here all your life?"

"Yes, Commander Mormont has been like a father to me, and Benjen has been as much an uncle to me as he has been to you. That's what it's like here at Castle Black Snow, you leave your old family behind and you get a brand new one here."
