The weather in Los Angeles seemed to change frequently throughout the day, but it seemed like the worst weather yet since moving to the area. Storms were rare to this part of Los Angeles, but the forecasts predicted the worst thunderstorm in years. It just also so happened to be a party for a friend to Ethan and his brother Grayson, Ryan Fredricks. He had shown the two around for the past two weeks. Ethan was running late to said party due to him forgetting to actually get Ryan a gift, the week leading up to the party was hectic as the twins were still settling into their new house.
Small droplets pull Ethan from his thoughts and he sighs clicking on his windshield wipers to clear the glass of rain to the cars in front of him, another downfall to running late is getting stuck in traffic. Being stuck in traffic was one of Ethan's pet peeves, he was stopped on the middle of the bridge near the end. The rain began to hit harder on the roof of his Jeep, his eyes move across the angry sky. The dark sky made his skin crawl for no reason, there was just something different about tonight.
He taps his fingers along to the quiet music that was playing as his eyes looked to the ledge of the bridge, he noticed a girl in a dark grey sweater hunched over while sitting on the ledge. He figured since he was already late the least he could just go check on her. Since being near the side of the road he just pulled over pressing the small triangle on his car the lights beginning to blink to warn others not to hit his car. Once out of the car he shivered due to it being a cold rain with an even colder breeze, as droplets hit his face he wonders how the poor girl isn't freezing herself to death in the thin sweater she was wearing.
Her damp brown hair was blowing wildly in the wind, he walks up to her and he could hear her muffled sobs. The wind and rain began to pick up as he walked closer, he goes to say something but the girl moves getting up still facing the water. Even with the winds unnaturally high she was able to maintain her balance quite well. Ethan watched her slowly turn and his heart seemed to falter as he looked at her, she was different from any girl he had ever seen.
Her eyes were a cloudy pale green like there was no life in them, the only life like thing that seemed to stick out was the smeared mascara and red eyes from crying. He moves his eyes to her lips observing that were a soft color with a tint of purple from the cold. Before he could take in any more of her appearance she sniffles and moves her head up to look at him, he looked up as well and when they made eye contact a chill shot down his spine. Her lifeless eyes made it seem like she was staring right through him, she wasn't looking at him per say just his soul.
Her voice brings him from his thoughts "No more" she says her voice soft and broken, before Ethan could process what she had said meant she was falling back into the raging water.
"No!" He shouts running to grab her the moment seeming almost from a movie as he moved in slow motion, he was only inches from grabbing that thin dark grey sweater, his heart drops as he was too late and she felt into the water her body disappearing.
He quickly fumbles for his phone the time being exactly four thirty-seven as he called nine one one. He explains to the operator what he had just witnessed and the exact location of where he was. His hands shake the whole walk back to his car and he climbs in pressing the musics volume off. A loud crack of lightning illuminated the sky followed by a rumble of thunder. He sat in his car motionless for a few minutes until the sirens were able to be heard, even when talking to the police, only one question remained on his mind,
"What happened?"
He knew the answer, he just couldn't bring himself to actually say it. But it was obvious, he watch that girl just take her life. The worst part was that he was all alone in seeing it.
