-Like a little riddle-

Ethan did not want to admit the truth but, he couldn't stop thinking about the dream that wracked his brain like a riddle that was unsolvable. His brain worked on overdrive as he tried to figure out the message Pete was trying to tell him, but his memory would become hazy when he thought about it too much. So far he's kept this dream a secret but he had finally had enough of carrying it on his shoulders, so on the third day of being home he finally confronts Grayson. He walks to the kitchen to where his brother was picking through his lucky charms eating all the marshmallows first, a thing he has done since they were little. Ethan smiles since Grayson still has not outgrown the little quirk, he comes up to him at the table.

"Hey, can we go to the treehouse and talk?" he asks shoving his shaking hands into his coat pockets. Grayson looks away from his bowl of dry cereal and nods not saying much while getting up.

The younger brother knew they rarely went to the treehouse anymore since they were teens, now it is their private talk spot. They were the only ones who knew where it was, when they first built it they could spend days there just exploring and camping up in the tree. Over the years they even saved up money to re decorate the place, it had its own windows, a good sturdy door that kept the bugs out and the interior was decorated to their own personal tastes. The two head to the shed next to the garage to get out the ATV's once on they turn the keys starting the ignition, the engines roaring to life. Ethan twists his right hand backhand he lurches forward heading to the secret trail to the treehouse, Grayson was a feet or two behind him.

They rode for a while the sun setting to the west of them, they finally arrive to the spot killing their engines and the two walk over to the rope that was hung up and Ethan grabs it and pulls himself up, they did build a ladder to get in but the two liked the work to get up into the house. Once he got up he smiles and reaches under the potted plant getting the key to unlock the lock that kept the door shut. The familiar click of the lock popping could be heard and he opens the door the sunlight filling the room up a little and he heads in finding the matches, he the candles around the room as Grayson comes in shutting the door as well as the curtains.

"It's been a long time being here," he says softly before sitting in the black bean bag chair opposite of Ethans purple one. Ethan nods blowing out the match throwing it in their metal trash bin that they had in the room and he goes and plops down into the seat sighing. "All right E, what's up?"

"Don't get and, but I had this funky dream on the plane ride home and pete was in it. He said he was roaming through the other side, I think he said it was called" He says pausing looking to the almost set sun "He said he had a way to get rid of Jess for good, but then you woke me up and I haven't had a dream since."

"Well, what did he say to you?"

"I have to go back to where it all began" he says looking backing at Grayson.

"So the bridge?"

"I would assume so" Ethan replies back as he rubbed his forehead where the small bandage still was on his cut. "But, what would we do after that, wait didn't he did say that she was the weakest at her death spot?"

Grayson nods while leaning back curling his three fingers his pointer and thumb covering his mouth while in thought. The two just sat in silence until Grayson starts to mumble inaudible to himself.

"What are you thinking Gray?"

"Death" He whispers to Ethan pulling his hand away from his mouth.

"What about death?" he asks while his eyebrows furrowing together.

"That's got to be it, death. I read it once on Pete's website, she's attached to her death spot until she finds someone to attach herself to, which was you. She's stronger away from her death spot so that's maybe part of why you have to go back. As well as you have to relive her death which would scare her out of attachment and she would loose all her powers and die. She never hit the water when you saw her jump right?"

Ethan shakes his head "No, it was like she would fall and halfway through the fall she would disappear"

"I think I know what you have to do" Grayson says looking up at him.

"No way, you are telling me that I have to-"

"Jump off the bridge" The two say at the same time.

"I know its crazy" Grayson starts

Ethan nods getting up "Yeah, it's risky crazy"

"Cant you tell that its all coming together, finally its clear to us what we can do to get her out of our lives"

"She's not doing anything to you Grayson, last I checked she's the one who's trying to kill me not you" He snaps and bites his bottom lip turning to look at Grayson "I didn't mean for it to come out like that, I'm sorry"

Grayson hums "I know you're frustrated, Ethan"

"If we are going to really do this, we will need a plan" Ethan says sitting back down in the bean bag chair but leaned close Grayson.

"You seem like you already have on planned out, just lay it on me and we can work on the frayed pieces"

Ethan nods putting his hands together and begins to explain the plan to the eager Grayson and once he worked out how the situation he lets Grayson talk.

"I think you've really figured that out. I think it will really play out" Grayson says softly

"But, we really have to sell it so that she will believe it. Make her think I'm really going to end it all"

"Well speaking of ending to all, I have a plan to make you upset"

"Don't tell me" Ethan says quickly, he knew if he didn't hear it it would be easier to play it off

"Ok, calm child" Grayson laughs and covers his mouth.

"I'm older than you, idiot" he snorts while rolling his eyes. "I feel a lot better knowing that we could work this out"

"I do too, I don't like seeing you like this."

"I've survived so far just a little longer. Come on its late, let's head back" he says letting Grayson go first while he blew out the candles and then closed the curtains. He exits the treehouse closing and locking the door before gliding down the rope a smile on his face and he ties it to the lib and turns around only to see that Grayson and the ATV's were missing. "Grayson?"

There was no reply and the hazy feeling in his brain started again and he spins around to see if he was hiding "Come on, this isn't funny" he shouts into the darkness, what he didn't realize is that he never heard the engines start up. He turns back around and comes face to face with Pete again.

"How are you here again, I'm not dreaming" Ethan stammers looking at Pete with a frightened look on his face "Do you know where Grayson is?"

"There is really no way to tell you this, but you aren't dreaming Ethan" he says and Ethan tilts his head relaxing a little "You have been in a coma for three weeks and all that you've seen is your brain making up little stories in you head so you don't give up"

"C-coma?"

"Yes! Now I haven't got much time, you need to wake up, she's getting stronger and you will die are if you don't wake up"

"Will going back to the bridge solve this all?"

"This all ends by going over the bridge" Pete looks behind him and turns back to him a look on his face.

"Wake up, Ethan!"
