-A Good Day-
Needless to say finding a way to hide a dead body is harder than the twins had originally thought. It took at least an hour to formulate a plan and working out all the things that could go wrong as the two were getting rid of his body.
"I pray to god that this can all go away" Grayson groans as they pull back into the driveway parking the car which now had to be cleaned inside and out.
"Let's just get everything done tonight and then we can pray for it" Ethan says tiredly getting out of the car. "I'll clean my car if you'll go back and rinse the grass"
Grayson doesn't say much and just nods heading back into the house and turning on the lights going to the back and pulling out the hose turning it on, the sound of water hitting concrete soon filled his ears and he stands looking at the water as it slowly began to make a puddle and spread moving through the cracks, for a split second it turns red and he gasps dropping the hose, the metal making a clanking sound as it hit the concrete. His eyes adjust again and it was just normal water running on the concrete, he slowly picks up the hose and walks over to the grass and lets the water run, he sticks his thumb over the metal into somewhat inside the hose making it spray with a little more force.
As he did that Ethan was wiping down and cleaning in every nook and cranny in his Jeep making sure he didn't miss anything. When he looked at his phone it was four thirty-seven in the morning, just seeing those three numbers in that order make him feel uneasy, those were now her numbers. He sighs closing his car up and wiping down the outside of his car where Pete's body could have touched, once done he locks up his car and makes sure that the front door was locked as well. The two boys had successfully gotten everything done and after they did a once over the whole house they walked to their rooms turning off lights behind them. They hugged each other before going into their own rooms leaving their doors open, both collapsed in their beds and fell asleep instantly.
Over the next couple of days the smell of bleach started to slowly disappear, the two were able to somewhat get into a normal life again. But a week after the whole ordeal Ethan started to get really sick and had to take a little vacation from work, leaving Grayson to pick up his shifts as he tried to get back together and better. Finally Grayson had a day off the two filled it with opening the all doors except the front and windows to air out the house and spend the day out by the pool.
As the two laid out by the pool after swimming they listened to a playlist on Grayson's phone, as they laid there thinking about Emma and how over the last couple of days she's been there for him. The two of them would talk on the phone or FaceTime when Ethan didn't think he looked like trash, she explained too him that is was not the same at the coffee place without him. Then Ethan began to think about how things could have been different if he wouldn't have helped the girl on the bridge.
"I wish things hadn't changed and things were normal" Grayson says out of no where cutting the silence between the two. Ethan began to realize just how paranoid his brother really was about the whole situation and he would have to constantly talk his brother down so he wouldn't have a full on panic attack every time he talked about what happened.
"Well, we both know that cant happen anymore" Ethan sighs and rolls over onto his back.
"You could try to at least act like you are still human, wouldn't hurt to have emotions" His brother says his voice sharp.
"Sorry that I'm so sick that its hard to do much of anything" Ethan says back surprised by his brothers rudeness.
"It's your fault" Grayson says sitting up, Ethan opens his eyes looking over at his brother, his heart heavy.
"You don't mean that"
"It's all your fault that he's dead" Grayson says and he gets up leaving. Ethan lays back down closing his eyes trying to process what had happen when all of a sudden he felt Grayson's weight on his lap and Ethan's eyes open. "You don't deserve to live"
Ethan didn't know what that meant until Grayson wrapped his hands around his throat and started to squeeze. Ethan wheezes and tries to push his brother off "Grayson, Gray please" he says his voice weak and strained.
Ethan's eyes shoot open and he takes a deep breath, he had fallen asleep under the sun and he sits up looking around holding his hand to his throat that burned from being dehydrated. He looked over at Grayson who was just now propping himself up on his elbows with a concerned look on his face.
"Hey, you all right?" he asks watching him.
Ethan nods with a small tired laugh "Yeah, just have been in the sun too long I guess"
"Well, go inside and drink some water" he says softly before moving and laying on his stomach and relaxing.
Ethan nodded more to himself and got up slowly heading inside and he grabs a cold water bottle from inside the fridge. As he took a drink there was knock at the front door, Ethan makes a look back at his brother who was still laying on his towel unaffected. As he walked towards the door he could feel her presence around him, some energy leaving him again. He spent a lot of his time sleeping to hopefully gain some energy back but it was like he was always half full and got drained quick. As he reached the front door his mood slowly improved as he saw a familiar face at the door looking down at their phone and messing with the scrunchie on their wrist. As he opened the door she looked up and a slow blush started from the center of her face and that was when he realized that he was still shirtless.
"Hey," he says a smile on his face "It's good to see you"
"I was in the neighborhood and you were on my mind so I thought I would stop by and see you" she says
"I missed you too and I'm sorry i don't have a shirt on" he says blushing a little.
"I mean I don't mind" she chuckles
"Come in, how rude of me" he says moving and opened the door more and she came in. "I'm glad you stopped by"
"Well I couldn't get my Ethan fix while you were at work so i thought I could come over and see you and well you know surprise you"
"I'm flattered" he says a smile on his face as he closed the door and he covers his mouth as he lets out a dry cough that stung his throat, he felt awful most the time but now he was starting to look it. But today had been one of his better days, he looks at her with a tired smile.
"No offense, but you look absolutely terrible"
"Would you believe me if I told you that this a good day for me?"
She frowns tilting her head frowning a little and moved closer to him "I would say that I hope you have more good days" she says softly wrapping her arms around his shoulders holding her hands behind his neck.
She pulls him into a hug and his arms moved to wrap around her waist and pulls her close a small smile on his lips, he closed his eyes taking a deep breath. He felt better than he had over these past couple of days, it felt good almost normal and that was something that Ethan needed.
Ethan could never figure out why Emma had this affect on him but maybe, just maybe he was fine without knowing.
