A/N: Fred's wand at the side.
----
The very next morning, I woke up to having my uniform thrown in my face. Groggily, I peered over the warm covers and spied my best friend, Angelina, pulling own her Gryffindor robes.
"What time is it?" I croaked, wiping the sleep out of my eyes. The cold, September morning lingered in the room and I gasped as I shoved my hand back into the warmth.
"Breakfast starts in half an hour," Angelina replied. She picked up her broom and swung her scarf around her neck. "I'm going to go fly for a bit. I'll see you in the hall?" I nodded and the girl left. I braved the cold, squealing as I entered the bathroom.
Soon, I was ready. Buttoning up my grey cardigan, I felt all snug and comfy as I pulled on my robes. Grabbing my empty bag, I made my way down to the entrance hall, where I met Angelina looking all flushed. "Cold?" I asked. The girl nodded and rubbed her hands, before grinning mischeviously and sticking them onto my face. As I squealed in protest, she giggled and ran into the hall. The platters were already piled high with breakfast and I stuck right in as we took a seat at the table.
It was heavenly and I savoured each bite. Angelina chewed on her toast and looked up as the cries of owls delivering the post swooped overhead. Starky, my own tawny owl, plopped a copy of the Daily Prophet onto the seat softly. I threw him a piece of toast, which he happily scoffed down before flying off again. I gave the cover a glance before I stuffed it into my bag.
"Timetable," Angelina muttered as she passed me a pile. I took one off the top and gave it to the next person. "We've got Double Charms before lunch and then...oh." Her face fell. I gave the timetable a lookover and saw why.
"Double Defence Against the Dark Arts...with Mad-Eye Moody." I looked at my friend. "Should be...fun?" Angelina rolled her eyes at me. "What? I'm just trying to look at the bright side of things," I responded. I shovelled the last piece of egg into my mouth and stood up.
"I'll see you at Charms?" I asked, eyeing her broom beside her. She nodded and I set off, beating the bustle of students and lost First Years. I stood outside the Charms room, waiting to be let in. As the hallways began to fill up with students going to class, I struggled to stop myself being kept away by the crowds.
"A bit of trouble there, Finchley?"
"Not at all, Weasley," I replied, looking at the boy behind me. I had stopped being shoved since he arrived, taking most of the pushes. "You're Fred, right?" I confirmed. I could usually tell them apart, but it was still early so my mind still wasn't fully functioning.
"You can tell the difference?" I nodded.
"George is usually more rowdy." I looked around. "Where is your brother anyway?" Fred cracked a grin.
"He might have found himself in a predicament involving some powdered Puking Pastilles that somehow found itself mixed into his drink his morning." I raised an eyebrow.
"You used your own product against your brother?"
"Ironic isn't it?" he asked. I tried to resist a smile, but his enthusiasm overpowered me.
"He's going to get you back, you know." Fred's face dropped as if the idea hadn't even occurred to him. "Better stock up on some orange ends then," I advised.
"Oh yeah," he replied, a grin appearing on his face. "Thanks for reminding me."
We made our way into the Charms class, Angelina running in breathlessly as she just managed to make it. "Sorry, Professor Flitwick. I had to take George to Madam Pomfrey. He wouldn't stop throwing up and didn't know what caused it." Fred and I exchanged looks before taking our seats.
